  • The cool thing about watching Buroughs was watching an old man in a gray suit reading all that freaky stuff. None of these youtube videos capture what it was like to see him live. Putting hipster music and graphics on it kind of ruins it.

  • @milascave

I can understand your view, but this is taken from an album of tracks like this, it's not a youtube user adding a shite beat.. I think the beat works excellent with the poem and for a lot of people this is their first experience of Burroughs. If it gets them into him, then who are we to complain?

  • @davevad9 i think all the traxcks of william reading excerpts with the cool bass beats goin on fit his writing perfectly in most cases. it illustrates the flow of his writing. it just shows how perfectly his words go together and how perfectly he speaks them.

he had the most unfathomable kind of intelligence. he is probably my biggest hero, although i dont plan on indulging in heroin.

  • whats the song?

  • @groundless the bands "MATERIAL" i think

  • @groundless Bill Laswell

  • yeah, I agree, this is really really good, but the captions I found distracting.

  • You can apparently turn off the captioning with the Up arrow button on the extreme right of the bottom of the playback window. select and scroll up and select again and PRESTO!

  • thanks

  • thanks. is there no option for endusers to turn off the captions themselves?

  • @iftreedog Now I'm curious about the aforementioned captions. Were they just Burroughs' words? Or some other commentary?

  • @veloboy i was just explaining the countryside and a little bit about the history of that part of uzebkistan.

  • woah.

  • You reckon-hell you leave me out? With me you fly, I am the wings -William S. Burroughs

  • Karshi, Termez are Southern lands, smart ass! i'm from Karshi, i guess u had quite a fun travelling down there, but u have to be careful near the borders though :) cheers

  • There is also a second track named the same, featuring Iggy Pop, Techno Animal, and of course Burroughs. I like it more, it's on Hashisheen : The End Of Law.

  • The End Of Law - one of the greatest projects indeed... fantastic stuff...

  • Did you try the The Road to the Western Lands CD which is a remix of the Seven Souls CD

  • Anyone know where I can find this version of the song as an MP3? I have the Seven Souls and Hallucination Engine CDs... don't have this!

  • TheWestern Lands (A Dangerous Road Mix)(*) (8:31)

From "The Road to the Western Lands" CD/LP a remix of seven souls (Also available on the reissued version of Seven Souls - Triloka Records 1997

  • The original version from "Seven Souls" LP is better in my opinion.
