@familyman20 While I agree for the most part, having been close to similar situations, (one with a celebrity now deceased, who at their death weighed close to 400lbs) this behavior isn't as uncommon as you think. I think where people feel a disconnect is in the mid-70's there was a stigma around this kind of behavior, add in a mix of unique and unheard of celebrity status, and you have the perfect storm. I think it's totally plausible.

It is quite apparrent that Elvis ended up becoming a drug addict. I think the man just got depressed and resorted to drugs to make the inner pain go away when in reality, it was making him worse. it is sad that he went downhill, his heart could not take the abuse much longer, thus resulted in a drug induced heart attack, (cardiac arythmia which is irregular heartbeat). In the end he never could be a real dad to his daughter, there was no place he could go to simply take some time off, he didn't get the roles he wanted, his wife left him. @familyman20 While I agree for the most part, having been close to similar situations, (one with a celebrity now deceased, who at their death weighed close to 400lbs) this behavior isn't as uncommon as you think. I think where people feel a disconnect is in the mid-70's there was a stigma around this kind of behavior, add in a mix of unique and unheard of celebrity status, and you have the perfect storm. I think it's totally plausible.

It is quite apparrent that Elvis ended up becoming a drug addict. I think the man just got depressed and resorted to drugs to make the inner pain go away when in reality, it was making him worse. it is sad that he went downhill, his heart could not take the abuse much longer, thus resulted in a drug induced heart attack, (cardiac arythmia which is irregular heartbeat). So in a sense he was slowly killing himself, so to say he wasn't is rather silly. RIP Elvis, I hope you found eternal peace..

The problem with these celebrities taking drugs is other people are giving it to them when they are in weakened emotional states, and they are vulnerable to manipulation by other people who want to control their life. They will be held accountable for their deaths because they did nothing, but give the person more drugs knowing what the outcome would be.

The fact that this notion is taken seriously should be an insult to the man and his memory.
Lets look at the facts:
Elvis took many drugs through "attacks"-prescription of course.
However, when you combine drugs with a poor diet-hamburgers, fries, you get the recipe for a heart attack.
Also, Presley died near the toilet-I doubt he planned it that way.

No-one can come up with when he actually said it. Supposedly on a tv show he was never on, in a city he'd never been to.
