actually due to the "solidarity tax" introduced by the Kohl administration the east german infrastructure after the reunification became superior compared to the one in the west. just go and visit the east... yes it was and it still is expensive. but since the time window for the unification was very small and the administration had to react quickly, the german government made some tremendous mistakes during the reunification process...but hey, money will never outrank the value of freedom!
