I only use carvin seven strings and I do have them with floyd and never had any problems with it and I use it a lot. It could be that I always change the bar for a real floyd one. Its much beefier and tighter inside the shell where it goes screwed. I feel that they bring are a bit skinny and it wobles inside that shelf a bit.
Without the sperzel locking tuners it does detune when used heavily. The feel of it is not as precise as a floating style tremolo. Still, the guitar is by far exceeded what I was looking to buy a 7 string and tried everything on the market.
I didn't mean that it being licensed or an original floyd rose made a difference. The design is identical. I was referring to the feel of the tremolo.
i just got a dc727 with the floyd rose. its amazing how well it stays in tune. also you don't need that fugly locking nut because it has locking tuners.

i see you have some skills on execution, but it seems you're either just trying to show off or you're not inspired cause you're making no music in this video.
Not trying to either show off or "make music". This was just me picking up the guitar and jamming a bit. Hard to believe a lot of people don't do that more often.
Dont worry dude. I do the same thing a lot too when Im praticing. I just a whole lot of things just trying to practice licks, riffs, sweeps with a backtrack and just throwing different ranges in different various modes and scales. It's not like you were really trying to copy a song or anything. I do that a lot too just to memorize the keys in the fretboard to know exactly where they're located when a particular chord is or what major it is in a scale.
I got a schecter c-7 hellraiser... it's awesome! I was a bit worried going from an Ibanez 6 string neck to a schecter 7 string neck, but I actually like the thicker neck for some reason. It feels more natural or something... Your tone is sweet btw. very nice!
I have the DC127 (lefty) and I love it. Carvin makes custom guitars for about 1/2 the price. Mine was shipped $1080. I bought a prewired pickguard (Carvin) and it sounds amazing on my parts guitar!.
Hey man. Great job. If you don't mind, I have a couple questions for you. To start off, how are these pickups with pinch harmonics, how do you rate it for a 7-string, and is the neck nice? Anything comparable to a Jackson, or Ibanez neck?
THe pickups are great all around. I would suggest going with active ones though. They have a bit more bite. The neck is amazing. Its more like a Fender neck, fat but smooth. It is worth every penny.
I think the carvin is the best bang for the buck. I played the universe and the petrucci prior to ordering the carvin and although they are amazing guitars, the carvin blew them away - and it was cheaper.
I'm almost definitely getting one. Not to sound cliche, but would it be good for metal? I've just heard polarized things about the pickups - people either love them or think they are weak.
Absolutely.... Check out my other vids and you tell me if you think the pickups sound weak. The only thing different on my next order will be active pickups for rhythm. I love the passive sound for lead and the tight, bright crunchiness you can get with active electronics is perfect.
Thanks for your comments on the Carvin. I have a UV777 and its a very nice guitar but I thought I wanted something to my specs that was still quality. I have a specific question in regards to your tone; what are you using here? Very Eric Johnsonish.
Hi , great playing & guitar . I had a serious question,i think seriously purchase a Carvin guitar ( DC727 ) & i don"t how is the roundback of neck . It"s like Ibanez,Jackson,Gibson.....round or flat , thick or ..... Please , i need of your comment
the carvin is definitly thicker than the ibanez. I got a ibanez universe 7-string, and my friend got a carvin 727, so Ive tried both. I love the carvin though, the look of it just kills the ibanez :P
I have a UV777 and its the best 7-string I have played but I just ordered a sapphire blue flame DC727 with a birdseye maple fretboard and floyd on it and can't wait. :-)
amazing phrasing. i love how near the end you took a while to resolve but it was so nice how it was done. your playing style reminds me a lot of how i play.
Hey i got a Gibson les paul...and i kinda wanna get a guitar with a wammy bar.. and i hear Carvins are good...But are they betetr then Legendary Gibson?
Great playing! A little like Eric Johnson in a way.

i personally don't like the floyd roses on these carvins i think they're much better as hard tails

@brandon5pennies I agree totally... The wilkinsons feel so much better. I'll have to really think about it when I order a six string.

is the floyd rose ORIGINAL or LICENSED ??
tussero 2 years ago
LIcensed. It is the weakest part of the guitar IMO.
narshadda 2 years ago
does it stay in tune? if it´s well set up then it doesn´t matter if it´s original or licenced. thanks for replying :)

How's the Carvin DC 727 neck? Fat and chunky like Schecter 7-string necks or thin and fast?
MustGroove76 2 years ago
Its fat and fast. Kinda like Fender necks. Plus it being a 7 string it is even fatter than most. My Ibanez RG570 feels so flimsy next to this.

Haha, true. Nice playing. Very emotional.
SteVeTurchin22 3 years ago
I definitely see the Vai influence! I felt it even before reading this comment.
It's very rare to see a good improvisation that isn't played behind a backing track. You're an excellent player. And that's a beautiful guitar!

lol did you even use the 7th string at all? nice vid 5 stars
Speedbeetle07 3 years ago
absolutly stunning sound...how does the playibilty of the fretboard compare to say..an ibanez?
TomasuSA 3 years ago
Ibanez necks are a lot thinner and the tone on the carvin is a lot warmer.
narshadda 3 years ago
The Carvin is my main guitar. I use it for everything except for crazy tunings which I either use my Ibanez RG570, my Moon lightfield, or my olp MM1.
