  • which way is the current flowing?

  • People, keep your unnecessary negative comment to yourselves on these videos. This ain't the place to manifest your nasty comments. You're just causing character pollution, man!

  • where could one get the neodymium magnets to make this?

I dunt wanna buy it online... :S

  • where do you get the pager motor for a cheap price?

  • Red October standing by!

  • GENIUS!

  • more power, there is a guy in here can blow the water 6 inches it makes so much thrust, its a wood looking rig!

  • pls instrution how to build...

  • grate vid thanks

  • It would move faster with a 'flux capacitor"

  • rofl

  • actually....

    french snails are faster....

    no joke

  • ya cuss they dont whun t to be lunch

  • He didn't specify French Snails, probably average snails. How fast do French Snails go by the way?

  • maybe...

they can go a rulers length in...

    6 seconds?

  • "a rulers lenght" Hahahahaha!!!

  • Combine with superconducters and that could be an extremely efficient way of moving.

  • Yes, because you have dont the energy calculations no-doubt....

  • Yay nerd threads!

  • the magnetism superconductor's make is different to normal conductors i cant be bothered to research so if your interested check it out and tell me

  • @nordanno: the url is in the video description...

  • sail snails :D

  • LOOOOL

  • silent propulsion system for nuclear submarines... i guess none of you liked "Hunting Red October", did you?

  • with the right adaptations, thats a slow stealth torpedo....AWESOME!!!

    :D

  • why must man resolve to weapons out of all technology? I'm sure you can get much more creative on the implications for this

  • how else are we going to fight the N.W.O.?

  • By becoming self sufficient

  • strap a 14.8v li-poly to that!

  • woooooooooooow its so faaaaast!!!dmn i think it is faster that a drag racer!!oh wiat its not!the only nice (xd) thing in this video were u say that its faster the a speeding snail!!

  • énorme!

  • I dont think this would be too usefull though it is cool it is less efficent than a motor and propeller but I suppose at high voltages it might be more interesting.

  • would be useful to a submarine where there's no moving parts = no noise.

  • nice, but what exactly is it, im not soo smart, lol! But Watever it is i bet its awsome!!

  • Why is everyone being so rude????? oskay is awesome.

  • I agree. A+ project. Kepp 'em coming!

  • @Crucifors Youtube is where all the rudest people on earth go, and every one of them is courteous and respectful when face to face.

  • @partsproduction Yeah, "keyboard courage."

  • >Just what the cornbread Hell is a Tokamak anyhow?

It's the most common type of magnetic-confinement experimental fusion reactor, which is what you'd probably be using if you were trying to generate power through fusion. (You're the one that brought this up!)

  • whats with being such a jerk?

  • Nodanno you're such a moron :: sighs ::

If he didn't know about this stuff he wouldn't talk about it now would he?

Go educate yourself before jumping at people's throats.

  • > Do you got any notion what it means? Somehow I doubt it.

Ah-- is that "idiot speak" for "I don't understand?"

  • Okay, oskay, I'm in a magnanamous mood so I'll explain it to you so then YOU will know it also, the next time you're asked in some idle conversation. It is usually used to describe the method that uses magnetic force to contain the "hydro" or fluid pressure creaed by the process of creating "Hot Fusion." To contain it and allow it to gain it's full force and thereby generate fusion power. Get it? Now if there are no more questions... class dismissed.

  • This is a tiny demonstration of magnetohydrodynamic propulsion; it obviously doesn't have a damn thing to do with optimizing your tokamak.

  • > lining your pockets with money

WTF? Like I make money from this stuff? Ha!

We have a DIY project blog and did a tutorial on simple MHD propulsion. If you don't want to learn about it-- fine, but just because we use the proper name doesn't mean you need to trash it.

  • Okay, so what's the URL of your blog turorial?

  • Comment removed

  • OOh i love magnetohydrodynamics~~~~~

  • Magnetohydrodynamics isnt some made up word, just cause your an utter idiot and cant understand that its the magnetic field causing force on the liquid as the current is being passed through it, doesnt mean you can go shoutin your mouth off trying to be a smartarse, do everyone a favour, stfu and go learn some basic damned physics.

  • Watch it get beat by a dead snail!

  • Try taking a match, put some earwax at one end, then drop it in water ^^

  • whats it do?

  • Just try ^^

  • it makes that end sink?

  • yes now i can get off this deserted island

  • Ha ha ha! Neato torpedo!

  • I guess its useful on the ocean, if there are no waves.

  • awesome :)

  • you obviously don't grasp what is happening....there is no wind...

  • only if the wind is blowing, go read a book

  • will this work on fresh water

  • >will this work on fresh water

    No.

  • is the salt water used to conduct electricity or electricity related?

  • >is the salt water used to conduct electricity

    Yes

  • woot science is paying off lol

  • Almost everything you see is science based mate.

  • good because I'm good at science have an A+ woot lol

  • I got E, Its not what you know, hows what you find out.

  • yes true

  • Yeah, I think it's used as an electrolyte (Somebody correct me if I'm wrong)

  • polarity xD

smart... love your work evil one!!

  • more powerful battery= completly silent apc

    0.o

  • That is what the caterpilla drive in "The Hunt for red october" is supposted to be.

  • its moving by using magnetic field induced by the battery.....

  • >its moving by using magnetic field induced by the battery.....

Ha! Is that like the mounting-a-fan-on-a-sailboat trick?

  • The idea of MHD is that magnetic fields can induce currents in a moving conductive fluid (salt water), which create forces on the fluid, and also change the magnetic field itself.

  • yeh yeh why the heck didn't you just put a propeler and it would went 10 times faster?

  • was that wind power or the hrdro watever thing u said?

  • are you saying that an electro magnet propells north when floating on water?

  • >re you saying that an electro magnet propells north

    Nope.

  • I don't get it. what was on the back of the battery? how was it propelled? very cool, very weird, but I just didn't learn a thing.

    please explain. Thanks!

  • >please explain. Thanks!

Please see the link in the video description.

  • Oh, I get it! hey, that is very cool indeed.

    thanks :)

  • very evil indeed

  • Nothing-- it's just stuck to the magnet.

  • what is on the underside of the battery? Thanks

  • cool, very useful

  • Thanks!

  • That's really weird....and very cool.
