FABULOUS old song! I love this!!!!!!!WOW! It sure brings back memories from my teenage years!!! WOOOHOOOO! FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Still sounds as great as it did all those years ago!!! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3
it's amazing. I don't remember the date of the song, however, it looks like it came from '67 or '68, judging by the album cover. each year had it's own distinctive style. the early 60's were conservative, the late 60's radical. just look at how the beatles changed, and you get my drift.
Flirtin Flirtations what a great song missed by so many top 40 programmers.Former Hitbound to happen and Happen it did on all the Drake Stations.Still Huge in rotation of classic oldies on K-EARTH 101 in Boss Angeles !!
I had not heard this prior to today. I definitely like their sound. It sounds like Motown but if it had been Motown, I know I would recognize it and I don't. A great sound. Thanks for the post.
About a month ago I found this 6 min. version of the song on You Tube. I watched it and it sounded wonderful, but when I downloaded it I got the video but no audio. I sent a note to MusicMike2 who put it on You Tube But he would not help me. How rude! I only want the audio to put on my IPOD. I put the song in my I-Tunes. It went in there but no sound. Can you help me? I want that 6 min song Callycatt
Thanks so much for the lyrics!! I have driven myself nuts since this song came out in '69, because there was a portion of the words that sounded garbbled. I could never decipher what they were, but now, thanks to you, I can. Never knew she was singing..."He's got me Oh why ... can't I get him?". Thought she was singing "He scarred me alright, but I can heal." Thank you!!
I remember this song well. Great tune. Yes, there was a ton of good music in those days but I remember this getting played in my area. Motown was like a breath of fresh air, we called it soul music. It was different from the usual R&B of the day. It exploded with a whole new sound.
..... Super Duper... i was 15 was this terriffic number came out...guess what? IT couldn't be found at any record shop near my neighborhood in Boston! I suppose that the flood of music ie: the Beatles, Stones, Who, Three Dog Night, Grand Funk Railroad, the Beach Boys, the Temptations (and Motown....Stevie Wonder ect)...Incredible times and at least for me Blessed times not only for music but for "growing up"...Thanks for the post..-:)
@time2act1001 I add to your list of great Top 40 music in 1969: Steppenwolf, Tommy James & the Shondells, Johnny Cash ("A Boy Named Sue"), The Delfonics, The 5th Dimension, Dusty Springfield, The Bob Seger System, Iron Butterfly, The Foundations, Tom Jones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, The Guess Who, The Supremes, Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, Henry Mancini ("Love Theme from Romeo & Juliet"), Desmond Dekker (reggae), Edwin Hawkins Singers (Gospel), Bobby Vinton, Paul Revere & The Raiders.
I suppose this was the female equivalent of the Foundations (British R&B group who hit with "Baby Now That I've Found You" and "Build Me Up Buttercup"). Let's hear it for soul on both sides of the "pond"!
This song made it big here in North America , but I never realized it was a girl band from the UK who did the song.....It sounded very Americanized.....if that is even a real word.
@himycatisdead these girls are american they were called the gypsies but didnt have much success so they changed their name to the flirtations then moved to the uk as did quite a few american soul artists
@gary777777 The reason why this was not a far bigger hit, I'm convinced, is that there was just so much good music in those days; consequently, some really good songs didn't go as high on the charts as they could have/should have.
@57highland I think this was a Top 20 hit in the UK. It was written and produced by the people who became "The Rubettes" (Sugar Baby Love) in the 70s. They also did "Don't Do It Baby" by Mac and Katie Kissoon (which is on YouTube, and my mother used to refer to Katie Kissoon as 'that girl with the weird voice'.
@57highland.I agree. I recommend that you listen on line to "Sounds of The Sixties" from the BBC's website.Amongst the familiar classics there are rarirties. Their lack of commercial success does not necessarilymake the music any less engaging or compelling. Also, the absence of commercials really enhances the listening experience. Thank you for your insight.

@57highland that sounds like a very likely reason. I can remember as a kid listening to my little AM transistor radio all night and practically every song I liked. The airways were just loaded with good tunes
IF someone would have saw where the recording was made (in England), they would have dubbed it "British Motown"
The song uses a lot of trademark Motown patterns ala" the subjects of heartaches and teardrops.
IF Motown would have tracked in the U.K, it may have sounded like this. The Premier drum kit, the thick guitar sounds (and imagine James Jamerson on a Shergold Bass).
And it had a very interesting B'side, "Christmas TIme Is Here Again".
@TheAudivisioner yeah, for like 40 years I thought this was American......motown song. Great song....reminds me of when I was in junior high school listening to my portable AM radio in bed at night
This tune and it's flipside, How Can You Tell Me?, make for one of the best singles ever in my opinion. I understand the thoughts about Diana & Co. but I don't think of them at all when I hear this.
btw., Thank you for posting the lyrics! This somewhat made up for my disappointment in finding out that there was a live version of this tune posted from a Spanish tv show which is no longer viewable here on youtube. Drats!!!
Thanks for not thinking that I was being snarky. I've been in love with this song since .... well, since it was first on the radio in 1969. (I was 11). Thanks for the loud and clear audio. I will share this with many.
@57highland There was a 6 minute extended version of this song that I downloaded but when I played it back there was no sound. I could here the audio while watching it on the computer. But no audio when downloading it. Can you help me get the 6 minute audio of this fabulous song?
Any idea where I can find the extended mix of this? Or even an instrumental. Thanks.

Back when AM radio was KING, pounding the ether cranking out the tunes.
Like most folks, I had to rely on radio for music, couldn't afford the vinyl ...
Great copy, THANK you for the up load

Did this come out in 1967?! Because listen to the song by The Creation called "In My Eyes" and it sounds like it derived straight from this song!
