All digital zoom does is enlarges the picture the camera is seeing, to make it seem like it is zooming in further. Optical zoom actually moves the optics in the lens to make the picture bigger. Digital zoom degrades the picture, and usually is not worth it at all...

Not sure what to say on that one, the time interval setting is very easy to set in the MX20's menu. I asume you have an SD or SDHC card installed in the MX20 that has lots of memory ? Do you have the users manual ?

If y ou have not already done so, reset the MX20 back to default settings and see if that works,,, if that odes not work call Samsung or exchange the MX20, it must be defective.

has a builtin memory but its better to buy a memory stick as well..ive got a 8 GB memorycard and with the lowest quality you can record about 7 hours!

As the original poster of the video I will comment on some of the comments.

I shot the test footage in 16:9, not 4:3.

The Samsung MX20 is NOT an HD camera.

I used "ANY" converter and converted the H.264 files to an MPEG2 file and then used Windows Movie Maker to edit.

Converting to an MPEG2 file did NOT degrade the video quality from the original H.264 file format.

Hope that helps a bit.

The files come out as 640x480 4:3 anamorphic, you must convert these to MP4 854x480 16:9 aspect ratio.

Hi (original poster of the video here) The files do not come out as 4:3, they come out in 16:9.

The MX20 is not an HD camcorder, but it shoots in 16:9 by default.

I have a panasonic HDC SD9 and viewing the videos on my PC is a pain in the ass. Can you view the videos from the MX20 easily on a PC? Is it Youtube friendly? The FS100 isn't HD either, but has a lot higher quality video than this camcorder. FS100 is actually amazing for it's price, and it's made by Canon so you know it's going to have great quality.

If you want an HD camcorder, you're looking in the $800-$1200 range for a consumer model.

its not the camera. i figured it out, i already tried converted the files to .wmv , .wmv, and .avi. There is something wrong with my computer software. My codecs were all installed. Cyberlink media show doesnt work on some hardrives so i need to get a new camera that doesnt only run on MP4 editing softwares.

Also if you knew anything about converting, almost all the time the quality gets destroyed. All the video converters i had ruined my quality on my footage.

I was about to buy this, but I found out the zoom function only has one zoom speed. Is this true? It is evident in your test that it no matter how soft you zoom in and out, it will always zoom in with the same speed.
