@anilomd I think from the point a launch is detected, the Americans have like 30 min. The Europeans probably like 3 xd. But at least in Germany through building regulations ordinary houses are fallout shelters. Very few people would be near the barycenter of a nuclear attack. The vast majority of deaths are at the margin, where survival is very possible. Blast wind primarily kills by picking you up and throwing you, picking up debris and throwing it at you or collapsing the building you are in(falling debris) in all cases the odds of survival can be much improved.

People, Fallout shelters were a lie. NOTHING can protect you from Radiation, these bulidings have no more protection than the ones in Hiroshima, which still has a large amount of radiation.

I can still remember when they would run the drills at school and have us get under our desks and get into a ball with our hands over our heads. I wonder if they REALLY thought that would save us! And imagine....the radioactivity....being gone in just 2 weeks....did they REALLY believe that???

Very few people would be near the barycenter of a nuclear attack. The vast majority of deaths are at the margin, where survival is very possible. Blast wind primarily kills by picking you up and throwing you, picking up debris and throwing it at you or collapsing the building you are in(falling debris) in all cases the odds of survival can be much improved.
