i am looking into buying a te27 corolla with a "1200cc sr " engine, but the guy didnt give me the engine code to look it up, any ideas how much power this engine has? its it worth tuning for occasional drifting ?
Its going to be a KE25 not a TE27 if it originally came with a 1200cc motor aka 3KC engine code. Its the same motor that I have on this video. Stock on these motors is about 60hp. IMO its a little underpowered for drifting.
@migz808 no the guy said the original engine had been swaped with an "SR toyota europe" engine , and he said its a 1.2L engine with a 4 speed gearbox, but in my understanding according to wikipedia there where different 1.2L engines and outputs, quoting "3K-B 97hp at 6600rpm (compression ratio of 10 and 9)", damn thats a lot for such an old tech small engine, and to add its a damn oversquare little rev devil, the car seems like it doesnt have nasty rast, only a paintjob needed, is 500euros good?
We have got a very good hint for you to keeping the nice old Engine in good shape with todays ultra dry eco fuels: Use 1:100 (1%) API TC two stroke oil / fuel mix as regular driving fuel, that keeps the old fuel-system gaskets, rubber parts, alloy parts etc... and cast iron metal surfaces of those vintage engines in excellent shape...and it also lubricates the valves and upper piston regions. Most Porsche vintage owners in Germany do so :) Also keeps carbs/Injection and tank clean and rustfree!
i built a carby turbo setup on my 3k wnt like fuk while it lasted haha wanted to c what the motor could do before it was removed,, now i have a 4agte tho :)
Oh no. the mighty K series with its inlet and exhaust on the same side. look at all that room on the other side. and to make things worse the motor leans to the port side. Looks good tho tidy engine and engine bay. apart from the carbs what mods has she got. with the efort thats gone into this im surprised you didnt start with a solid lifter 5K. or import yourself an efi 7k.
@acgolem I bought the car for $1K bone stock. It came with an extra o mile crate motor (3k), header, dual side intake, and 2 sets of Solex 40phh. So I had those extra things free to play with. I did not really want to spend any more money on the K series motor because I wanted to do 4AGE swap on. The 4AGE swap never happened because I ended up with a 71 Corolla with 4AGE and sold the KE20. The motor is pretty much just stock.
20 years ago i had a 3k in a 74 corolla wagon. it did 65mph when i got it. i sold the motor after i played with it. 9500rpm with standard bottom end and 120mph later what a rocket motor and bullet proof
I'm not using the stock manifold if that's what you wanted to know. You can still buy dual intake manifolds for a dual carby setup. You can either have side or down draft.
Put a 5k in it!!!!! My 5k is one highly strung engine. It's running a sc12 supercharger with a 45dellorto suck through setup, running 14 pounds. and it's a Non cross flow push rod engine that keeps up with evo's lol.
Yes, you have a 3K 1.2L in your Corolla which is exactly same as mine. Not the most powerful in the world, but definately has balls and is very reliable.
It definitely feels more than stock. I could have gotten probably a bit more if I got a better ignition system, cams, electric fan and port/polish the head. You do get a great throttle response and I love the throaty sound of the 2 side carbies when you open up. For a little 1.2L its pure fun.
owner of this vdeo, can u share with me about that carb setting..

残念ながら、私は手放してしまいました。
Genuine parts of this car is none at all in Japan because of an old vehicle.
どうか大切に保存してください。

@lolen91
K engines came with down draft carbs.. so you need to find a custom manifold to fit a side draft..

I love the nice exhaust and muffler/tailpipe combination. MUCH BETTER than all of those stupid bazooka coffeecan mufflers. You got class kid!

killab2442 2 years ago
you can use a 7k crankshaft and conrods to have a 'k' engine stroker.
but you are force to modify the block because of longer geometrical stroke.
this set.up will boost your 3k to 170hp with a twin weber 45.
beter port the exhaust .5mm bigger than intake and costum made an exhaust system that is set.up for torque.
