i really need your guys help! i know how this all works, but im trying to make a account system for the guys in my class. what i need to know now is; how do i do this, but then only with the safe map? i tried to replace the APPDATA to the save map but it wont work! so please can somone explain how i do this but then only with the saves map into my usb? thanks!

Are you trying to get maps off the computer, or off your flashdrive?

or are you trying to make another copy of portable minecraft on your flashdrive?

@bobdotexe im not trying to copy but i try to make the saves file only saved in the USB drive (on school i cant acces appdata). the way explained in the video works but im trying to save the "saves" file automaticly on it but i dont know how to put the locaction in the batch

Note: You have to put your new Minecraft.exe launcher in the "data" folder, NOT in the same folder as "play.bat". A little unclear there.

@bobdotexe I was thinking about maybe writing a java program that would do essentially what the .bat file in your video did, but i do not have much experience with java and was wondering if you knew java and could write it. A plus is that it would run on all platforms, making it even handier.

This is actually quite useful if you have a 1TB+ hard drive, I used this, transferred this portable version to the HDD and then I got great FPS like 50 for high settings and clouds on and nearly 300 FPS for really really low settings. Worked great, thanks. :D

@TheOutsider04 yes, it sets it ONLY for that instance of minecraft, so you 'could' run portable minecraft, and normal side by side, but I don't suggest it.

Hey I tried this and it works and all but after awhile a JRE error comes up and it stops working and Minecraft crashes. I put the folder inside another folder in my flash drive, is that the problem?

If all I plan to do is play SMP. Can I save it in a CD instead and get no lag? I tried this and it worked like a charm, but sadly my flash drive and sd card (tried both) suck, so I lag like hell.

1. Get a Sandisk Flash dive (they are great) and plug it in to a usb 2.0 port.

-Or:-

2. Move the folder (from flashdrive) to PC Hard Drive, Play, and when your done Playing, move it back.

@wodloo the reason it runs out of memory is either ur comp dozent have enuf RAM or ur usin a HD texture pack.

try not to run on a laptop, and especially dont use a HD txt pak. if u r doin neither of these than soz bt i dunno wats wrong D:

@DeathCoreGamer The problem may be that your flashDrive is slow, or your usb ports don't support usb2.0, I suggest you see if someone has a SanDisk Drive you can borrow, if it runs faster, you'll know the problem was your drive.

@rnedisc %appdata% is a variable windows uses to store the location of your application data folder.

Try using my installer program, it dose everything for you!

It's Free for Multiplayer of Single Player, it's like normal mincraft without the mobs, and you get unlimited blocks :D (to play Classic go to minecraft website and click "Single player" or "Multi player" under "Play Minecraft Classic"
