when humans have babies, we can barely move right after, buh seconds after givin birth she helps it up, covers it with dirt (im guessin sunscreen) and jus blows right through the pain..i can't even imagine bein pregnant for like 2 yrs with sumthin that weighs the equivalent of 6 men...wow
@Irie2286 completely agree, except if elephants don't move from where they give birth in the wild, the blood for their massive placenta will draw in lions, leopards and other hunting/scavenging animals.
@Irie2286 i agree with everything there and i dont think she covers it with dirt i think she blows it off of it so its not dirty and can breath just saying but you have good advice and facts and wow that must be painful!!!!!!!
Just imagine giving birth to something the size of a motorbike.

Why does the elephant Mom throw dirt onto the baby? Does anyone know?
warrensbrown 2 years ago
Elephants use dirt as a totally natural form of sunscreen.

good work, that mom is thinking, it helps when exactly needed, really brilliant, they are more advanced than us in using their skills.
