Batman Forever was a joke, sorry to those that like it, but it is. It's loud, bright, and misses the entire point of Batman. Read the best Batman comics sometime, you'll see why most of us don't look back fondly on the Schumacker films. For a laugh, they're good. But if you really want the essence of Batman, Nolan does it better. Strong narratives, darker imagery that invokes the Gotham of the comics, the sense of plausibility it's had since day one, and if DKR rumors are true, the mysticism.

You're right, it was... it was meant to be one, in a cartoony-live way. The tip offs were the many puns and pratfalls the movie was full of, it was made at the start when corporations and companies endorsed movies (McDonald's and Burger King) big time to promote their products: Remember in the beginning Batman told Alfred he'll get his lunch thru the drive thru? And why Jones, Kidman, O'Donnell, and Carrey? Purely to entertain. The bad is the Clooney outing.

Oh trust me, I enjoy Batman Forever, but in more of a train-wreck fashion. Not at the level of Batman & Robin, but the humor is shaky at best in Forever IMO.

Then again, I laugh at the badness of Batman & Robin and actually like Wild Wild West, so it's probably just me.

Just listen to this song and think back on Batman's true glory days. 1995 was mixed. Everyone always argues their favorite eras or stories. Personally, I don't think the 70's get enough praise. Nolan's entries are good, but they're made for the mainstream, thus old fans, like myself have mixed feelings. They're fun to watch, but all the exposition gets in the way, and redesigning everything... I could go on, all day. And, they don't have the great soundtracks. '89-'87. Great music.
