  • I like Holst better.

  • This was my favourite part of the song to play back in high school band days :P

  • I played this at military school band festival...we sounded good but not half as good as this

  • Too Fast

  • Very powerful and brisk!

  • 1.50 Its your big moment triangle :) I love this piece very well played and good dynamics.

  • @alex471996 the triangle is superb

  • Holy Crap, what a low brass section! I would kill to have a trombone section like that local!

  • @justinscott04 ugh dude i know right!!!!! it is freaking amazing!

  • Absolutely wonderful performance. This tempo is amazing. :) Most groups tend to take it slower, but this was a great tempo. Oh, and the bassoonist who is on the right has a bit of a tight mouth, but this song is hard on the mouth, but I loved hearing the bassoons. Good job.

  • nice work. Lot of nice things happening. The trumpet player has a great sound. I'd just like to see him not sneak into the notes so much. Play it like you would sing it.

  • I really enjoyed this. The lively tempo here convey lots of vim & vigor which I think Vaughan Williams wanted.. What a contrast to the Neville Mariner performance also on this site.

  • Playing this song in highschool was probably the most fun I've had as a trombone player.

  • epic

  • A couple of the trumpet's could have picked their trumpets a bit more and plaed to the audience rather than their stands. And the fortississimo parts could have definetely been played out a little better. Someone in the lower parts sounds out of tune around 2 minutes in. The trumpet soloist sounds really nice through and through. And the rit would have made it more dramatic had it been emphasized.

  • rockin' the triangle

  • mmmm. that trumpet had good tone. :D and i don't understand how that trombone player can puff his cheeks and play? that has to be really hard on the chops.

  • @JeffTheAsian

And this tune is a chops killer as it is

  • nice were playing this 4 UIL in my middle school band

  • poor percussion strong band

  • agreed

  • The actual folk song on which "Sommerset" is based is "Blow Away the Morning Dew"

  • Trombones, "marcato" not "staccato". And the one trombone player puffs his cheecks out when he plays...bad habit.

    But nice performance overall!

  • @lpjayman yeah, its tough to play marcato but compared to the band i'm in, they did a reasonable job. Just keep in mind some of the runs are marked as staccato. The cheek thing is a bad habit though. I really liked they blended as an ensemble overall.

  • OMG your such a kill-joy

    I though they where EXCELLENT!

  • GOOD!

  • snare drummer !!!

    effin hot !

and yeah sommerset was played how its suppose to be !

    good job

  • Im playing this for my String Ensemble, its nice hearing a band thats not overpowering like many can, well played!

  • in nscym we placed this and it sounded great, this sounds SUPER :)

  • This video is Awesome! We're playing this in my school!
