well it does not matter now cunard are now in talks to bring her back to southampton as she is not structually sound for the job they wanted for her and in the next few months she will be back in her home port where she is known and loved

I hope this is true, the QE2 does not belong in the Middle East but back in Britain! I dont know whose idea it was to send her to such a place!

Everything in Dubai is run by Brit expats, and I am sure Dubai bought QE2 to attract even more British visitors, so I am sure they will not mess her up too much. Cunard has been part of Mickey Arison's Carnival Corp. for several years, so it's been some time since she was actually British owned anyway.

The plans are for the funnel to be removed and used as an entrance to the rebuilt ship. A new funnel made of steel and colored glass will be installed on the ship and it will have a huge suite inside. Much of her interiors will be gutted and rebuilt. The Queen Room and a few other spaces most likely will remain intact.

Cutting off the funnel & replacing it with a penthouse suite & taking out the engines & replacing it with a entertainment hall.

They should just leave it the way it is & make money off it.

I was aboard QE2 in 1990. Look at it this way. She won't see the breakers. I'm a ship buff, always was. Want to see her,... She'll be there in dubai.
