Li Xiaoshuang stayed at my house when I was a kid. He was in New Orleans for an international meet and my dad was able to house him. I remember him doing flairs on our couch...that dude was a beast
@ImmortalSynn I'm 26 so it was awhile back, I think 1992, I don't remember the meet but he and someone named li jing stayed at our house, and one of the chinese women stayed at one of my dad's friends. I've got pictures somewhere. I'll ask the parents
@kamakazechris what do you mean by acros? If you mean power tumblers, they have a 50' run and rod floor. If you mean trampolinists, they have...well....trampolines. A standard spring floor is much more difficult, that's why it's rare and respectable.
One of reasons you dont see this very often is becuz it really doesnt looks good .. You have no good landing, no kick-out or w/e.. its just not worth the difficulty. When you do double straigth with 2 rotation you have almost same difficulty as triple but you can make that look MUCH nicer then this crappy -triple back-landing-withheadalmostonground-
So there is really not much need to learn this skill ... one of reasons you dont see it often
@Goorymichael No it's not lol it's not seen because of the difficulty, triple back is one of like 4 skills that a have a skill value of a G, the highest value there is so even if the landing isn't perfect it's value carries it.
@lawler123 Yes but G and F is only 0.1 points difference, right ? in score ..
Case 1 : G value skill : + 0.7 points difficulty but lots of deduction in execution. like 0.3 or 0.5.
Case 2 F value skill : +0.6 points difficulty and more chance of getting like .. 0.1 deduction.
I just think a lot of gymnasts choose for a rather safe skill and be sure of a landing then go for the 0.1 extra difficulty with more deduction and harder landing..
Not exaclty, the only way to get .5 off would be to fall, the MOST to be taken off would be .4, unless of course you took more then one step then it's an additional .1 for each step.If you stuck it there would be a .05 deduction if you slightly wobbled or a .05 - .1 deduction if your feet weren't close enough together. And yes F and G are .1 difference but F's can be just as hard as G's and if you had a really nice triple back like these guys it would be worth having.
hmm, lol?? 1. there are prob half a dozen people which can do it, 2. if you could do it, you wouldnt be "national" level, - respect if it is so - , you would be international, and 3., proof it... feel free to post a vid response...
@bbhouk1 its hard to admit but its true why you think in every sport the mens is harder or the have higher things to jump run faster times lift heavier stuff its a fact
@vallgron i said bull because his comment was made in a blatantly sexist manner. sure maybe men have naturally stronger bodies, but that does not mean they are "naturally more talented and athletic" i'd like to see men do what women can do. and i'm sure the men would like to see women do what they can do.
@onejordangerous lol c'mon you hold that thing over every mans head sure got to be painful but who handles pain better men and who's less scared of pain men im sorry but this fight you cant win not going to reply to you if you sent me something though k
@vallgron Wow. So even if you never reply from this, you should know the argument you're making depends HEAVILY on who you ask (ex. I can think of many women who have torn ligaments without blinking and men who cry after papercuts). Believe me, as a guy, I'd love to say men are dominant in all physical aspects, but pain tolerance is one of those things you can't just assume. Yes, men are (typically) genetically more physically gifted, but pain comes from the brain too, not only the body.
its because men have more strength then woman (not being sexist) therefore than can push higher and use their full strength to go for that triple, as for woman its harder and ive seen a few do triples but its a very hard and risky move so they do something more simple.
when i said always i meant it more like: why do can men do triples and women hav never even tried? nbut i know its cuz they can get more power and r more athletic
The fact is that women are not as strong as men. With what I've seen, it also appears to me that women doesn't have a sense of spatial placement as good as men does. Sorry for my bad English, hope it's still understandable.
thus the side to side doesn't matter. only how much ur tucked in matters. if u are flexible enough split ur legs will allow you to tuck beyond ur head

Although "cowboying" a flip serves multiple purposes (e.g., centralizing body mass to spin faster, avoiding injury to the face if landed improperly, etc.), the deductions often make the trick not worth doing cowboyed, especially in the 2009-2012 Code of Points.
For example, take the 2nd triple on here (the one with multiple camera angles). There's at least a medium deduction for leg separation, medium deduction for improper hip angle in a tuck (must be 90 degrees), and a small deduction for flexed feet. That's already 0.7 in deductions on a G that's only worth 0.7. This doesn't get to landing deductions yet either. If the legs are greater than shoulder width when landing, then that's another 0.3.
That may be so, but a "cowboy" is not a valid body position for saltos. It's a deduction to cowboy a flip, even if it's a technique for flipping - specifically, a medium deduction for greater than shoulder width and a small deduction for less than shoulder width. See 2009-12 FIG Code of Points, Article 24, E-Jury deductions chart.
Self-correction: looking again at the video, the hip angle deduction is unlikely to be taken. (I'm having problems deducting based on video and not real life.)
Since you seem like a knowledge person this is something I've been wondering for quite some time. What's the difference between doing a backtuck with knees to chest versus knees outside chest?
with your knees outside the chest you're able to tuck yourself in order to have a very small tuck, thus, fliping faster... it's like when you spin with your arms open and with them on your chest...
Also, if you tuck them together, and you bail (land on your head or jam your feet into the ground without untucking) then you can knee yourself in the face. I have a friend who did that trying to standing double front a few years ago, and his two front teeth came out on his knee, and now he's got fake ones.
I cowboy my doubles because I only land it half the time and before I cowboyed my doubles, I never landed. What made me start cowboying was I hit my face on my knee once. Now I'm mad because my gym coach says I cowboy everything now!
Why do they spread their legs on them? It helps you rotate faster but its a deduction and you actually rotate a lot faster if you get urself into a nice tiny tuck.
nah you actually rotate faster in a "cowboy" position. and they also cowboy because doing a triple is risky. and hitting your face off your knee at that speed would NOT be fun.
