ground loop isolator. use the ac plug version for 50bucs (hum x) or rca version about 20bucs x 2 or convert ac plug to from 3 prog to 2 prog.. but that is not recommended.
Hey Zman, nice Vid bud. Have you tried earthing your rig to get rid of the HD interference? I had a similar problem, after earthing my rig it was a million times better.
Let me know how you get on with that. Hope it works.
Hi i DJ with 3 laptops and have a phillips mp3 player as a backup. now with regards to the hum sound you need a ground loop isolator available at any car audio store. now with regards to sound still coming out of the laptop when the cable is in the socket, it could be a setting on the laptop sound card or a faulty socket .
hi my name is DJ MattyMan i get the same bussing noises that you get and it pisses me off coz when i have my laptop pluged into some speakers and there no music playing a get a buss i hate that
get a 3 to 2 prong converter for your power source to get rid of the hard drive noise. its a ground loop problem. i also had the problem and this took care of it.
Sounds Like your Drivers Are Wrong.. As When you plug a Jack In . It will tell its self to shut off the on bord speaker's .. Use a Behringer bcd3000 .. You get a usb Soundcard & Mixer in one
The feedback noise your signal is sending can be fixed by reinstalling newer sound drivers on your computer (or different ones in general) Sometimes it is your operating system, but most times your laptop/computer as a whole is responsible. I get a little noise in my speakers too, not much you can do about it. I did install different drivers on my laptop and it changed the sound louder, otehr drivers aswell made it dim quieter.
I had the same problem with hardrive noise. The 3-2 prong adaptor solution works! Noise varies with your location & can get very loud, adaptor is a must!
Getting the Audigy 2 ZS card will eliminate the 1st problem. The noise you are getting when you have the charger plugged in is a ground loop problem. The simple way to solve that is to remove the 3rd prong from your power cable. If you do that, then you probably want to have another power cable for home use. The "Right" way to solve it though, is to figure out where your ground loops issue is, and resolve that.
The Audizy 2 ZS will elminated the noise only because it has a built in isolation transformer. This blocks transmission of DC singals from one circuit to the other. Isolation transformers with electrostatic shields are used for power supplies for sensitive equipment such as computers or laboratory instruments. You should never remove the 3rd prong not safe !!
As a test you can try seperating the mixer and the laptop. Another test is to run the laptop off its batteries and unplug the power cord. Let me know what happens..K?
I put up onther video showing in depth what is going on. It is unavailable at the moment? Anyway it stopped when I unplugged the power supply. It still did it when I plugged it into its own power socket.
To isolate you will need a 2- to 3-prong power adapter. Plug your computer's power supply into the 3-prong end, and then plug the 2-prong end into the power outlet. In this method, the third ground plug of the power supply is not connected to the mains outlet. The ground for the system is then provided by another piece of studio gear, such as the mixer or speakers.
For the humming, I had the same issues. Went out an bought that creative Xtreme sound card (PCI-Express slot) and feedback was gone. It really improved the sound quality overall I have to say.
Congrats on the sexy 17 inch. Definitely get a different soundcard. Also to improve performance turn off all the bluetooth and wireless garbage. I have read on many forums that this can sometimes cause audio glitches. Hopefully I will soon find myself a laptop.
I have used 4 different sets of computers betweens macs and pcs, clones, and dells. Never had to get a different sound card. I have DJ'd connected with a bluetooth mouse and used a wireless connection to stream video and never crashed. You just need to make sure the computer can handle your load.
its good enough that no one could tell the difference. I now use a 24bit soundcard and instanlty could tell the difference. but i also noticed that i have songs recorded at different levels which means no sound card will make a difference.
Ooooh I see now I think I understand. Thank you for the interesting videos and info. A 24bit soundcard may be superior than the laptop's built in sound card because it may be able to differentiate between higher quality WAV files and mp3 files. I thought I was finished with upgrading :-) I guess now I have to get an external soundcard :-) Keep up the great videos!
well i will try not to call you when you making youtube movies again

Hey Zack, I have been DJing with a Laptop since september of 1999 !! The trick to the noise your hearing is called a "GROUND LOOP"
A ground loop occurs when there is more than one ground connection path between two pieces of equipment.
Is your amp and your laptop plugged into the same powerstrip?
mike71flores 4 years ago
My mixer is pluged into it. I only used it with my powered speakers so amps were pluged in else where.

achriscity 3 years ago
the laptop has a battery built into, so if a kid walks up with scissors it will keep running.

so this problem can be fixed for $2.95 cents and they give you two of them !! Tha'ts $1.50 problem !!

Maybe he meant to say ExpressCard/34 slot

NO need to spend more money, when all you have to do is fix the ground loop.
