who can perform this good today, no one , not one guitarist can accomplish what page did , talking original art on guitar on stage at a young age, hats off to our masters from the 70s.
I like how the pictures are all from the same time period at least...makes for a fun listen. Compare that to some to post a song from 75 and show knebworth pictures!
If you are interested in hearing some of LZ's influence - get the album Duke by Genesis in 1980. The youtube clips of them live in 2007 don't do the recording justice. It is heavily influenced by LZ - especially Duke's Travels (where the climax heavily emulates The Song Remains The Same). Zepp rules.
Jones plays a nice bass line at .23, maybe to get bonham's attention..?? It's a pity Page didn't put as much work into his live playing as does thousands of cover bands have for over 30 years...to listen to page stumble over his own playing is fucked..!!
@WayneYonke Yeah! I have to agree, prolific writer and player and producer....he must've had a real interest in the studio/production...I was sort of comparing him to Blackmore on stage..Ritchie seem to take a bit of pride in his "Live" performance...not wacked out of his head I guess.
@commentnotapproved1 Agreed. If you get a chance to read When Giants Walked The Earth, or get the audio book - it's quite a compelling biography of the band. Although, admittedly, I did skip through the chapter(s) on the occult.
@WayneYonke As a matter of fact I did read that book...John Paul Jones seemed to be the only one that wasn't a complete fuckin' asshole..! Good music and musicians but do rockstars have to be deadshits.?Their mafia style attitude towards other people in the industry made me dislike them just that little bit more.!
I think they pioneered the idea of being the worst kind of deadshits.
On a side note: I don't like Mariah Carey. But I used to really F'n dislike Mariah Carey. 'Til my wife made the point to me that she was just some 17 year old girl plucked out of obscurity, married the CEO of Sony, and turned into a star. Of course MC is crazy - she knows no other way to be. Her experience of life to this point has been people codling her.
@WayneYonke I always found the occult rumors about Zeppelin to be the only really dull and pointless part of thier legacy . I always left that discussion to the idiots who play Stairway to heaven backward or who tried to decipher some hidden meaning from Jimmy page's dragon trousers .
@bro8664 Dude, you wrote, "to listen to page stumble over his own playing is fucked..!!"...but I say, "Actually, it's just a collector's item. Jimmy Page is my favorite by far!
@bro8664 Well, you wrote $150 ....some stoned fucker...play guitar...etc....sad....I've never seen Jimmy Page perfoming so bad that I'd comment on it....wait a minute....1985's Live Aid....okay, yes....but after that, pure magic!....now let's review, he's not "some stoned fucker"...he's Jimmy fuckin Page!!...stoned or not....and I saw him with Led-Zeppelin in 1978 at the infamous Tampa Stadium riot for just $10 dollars....and...got my money back. :)
@blackaurora44 Yea, Oh, yea..Live Aid..I forgot about that.! I think that's when glue sniffing was at it's peak..You call "stumbling over the guitar" a collector's item.....you gonna need a fuckin big cupboard!!
@RobDZeppelin LOL...yeah, actually, he died in 1970, which makes him a guitarist of the 70s. that's what i meant...lol...sorry about the confusion :-)
THE GREATEST ROCK VOCALIST OF HIS TIME THE BEST GUITAR PLAYER THE BEST DRUMMER WHO WALKED THE PLANET AND A MIGHTY FINE BASS PLAYER= LED ZEPPELIN GREATEST ROCK BAND EVER PERIOD..
@mark1simon If I might say, John Paul Jones was just as great as the rest. IMO, he's sort of the unsung hero of zeppelin. Not only a great bassist but he also played and came up with a lot of zeppelin's synth stuff including stairway.
I agree re The Stones. I am at a loss as to what all the fuss is about. Mick Jagger has one of the worst rock voices ever. Charlie is a hopeless drummer. The most over rated band in the history of rock.
You have to be a true dumb fuck to say "fuck the beatles" Ones love for Led Zeppelin shouldn't allow that misguided silliness to bubble to the surface. Save your hate for people and things that deserve it..not The Beatles.
@bughead3 Well said, Bughead3. If you don't like the Beatles or any other band, there's no need to speak so rudely. No one was even talking about them here.
I agree re The Stones. I am at a loss as to what all the fuss is about. Mick Jagger has one of the worst rock voices ever. Charlie is a hopeless drummer. The most over rated band in the history of rock.
@BillyMacQ Clueless ah. Well fool this week I asked 25 people at work who they prefered Zep or Stones. Only 2 said The Stones. Some totally agreed with me with regards to the stones being completely overrated
The drum beat from this and the escalation leading into the San Francisco part of Dazed and Confused from 1973 added to Achilles Last Stand. The Drumming was already there. Jimmy, Jonzy, and Percy just had to add to it, fine tune it, and boom. One of the best rock anthems in history came out.
That Achilis beat that guy spoke of is on the album too, I think he leaves out the ah on his kick on the studio version basically playing the Achilis beat, He also leaves out the hi hat lift on every other "2" for the song remains the same. The Immagrent song is also similar but slower. Good ear if your not a drummer!! shit even if you are a drummer, its cool to pick out stuff like that, The beat you speak of is during the secong guitar solo I believe. I actually play it in a tribute/cover band.
JPJ and Bonzo are incredible. I swear they read each others voice. How did they know to go thoes extra bars Page was soloing over while Bonham (listen carful) is playing the beat for Achilis Last Stand! and JPJ is OWNING HIS BASS!
If what you say was true god would just be a superior being from outer space. Doesn't me we have to go in for all that religious shit and bigotry and praying. Bit like the innocent until proven guilty arguement. You'll never prove to me there is a god so it stands to reason there isn't one.
I have this show - Feb 12 1975 (Lincoln's b-day) - on a 3-CD pkg. The 1st CD is blazing - Sick Again, Over the hills & far away, In My Time of Dying, Song Remains..., Rain Song, & Kashmir. This is before Physical Graffiti had been released so the audience had never heard some of it. For that part of the show, they were on fire - VERY tight. The other 2 CD's, not so much. Love this version of TSRTS even though Plant is a bit off.
@amozartii - Don't forget Eddie Van Halen, Blackmore, Andres Segovia, Steve Vai, Hendrix, Rhodes, Charo (yes, hoochi cuchi), Angus Young, Santana, Satriani, B.B. King and countless others...

I Just Got My Jimmy Page Double Neck Yesterday. It Is A Bit Difficult At First But Works Just Fine :). The Amount Of Material The Pick Ups Actually Pick Up Is Amazing! And The Tone Is Unlike Any I Have Ever Heard. It Is A True Piece Of Art. I Also Have The Page Les Paul. AMAZING Tone :). He Really Knew How To Work His Equipment!
Before getting your 12 string try to learn all your chords on a 6 string try to learn triads suspended chords chords that are aumented and way more of chord material.
yeah man you right...zeps are still underrated...beatles and stones got press with them.Zeps were underrated and criticized by the press...THE FUCKIN'BEST BAND EVER!LONG LIVE LED ZEPPELIN!GODS OF ROCK LED ZEPPELIN!UNBEATABLE!
@dannyaudio fuck yeah FUCK The Beatles!!!! Zepp rule . . .. The Stone roses had a bigger influence on British Music than that set of cheeky scouse cunts! how can you claim to be THE greatest band of all time when you've got Ringo "not even the best drummer in The Beatles" Starr as your drummer?
The solo of this is on the 12 string, same as any other live I've heard and seen(even live in '95).Jimmy doesn't bend strings in a bluesy style like on the studio cut.
wtf are you talkin'about?just watch madison square garden one or earls court version on related videos and look wher does he play the solo...and don't tell bullshit anyway
@rikyhendrixx He plays nearly all the parts with th 12stgs, you can hear it, it doesn't sound like a 6 strings solo, lot of arpeggiattoes which sound quite good with 12 stgs, but he can't make bendings as with 6 stgs!
HOLY CRAP BONZO SPARE THE DRUMS xD! Gotta love his druming combined with the rest of then band! Led Zeppelin are the masters of rock gods even. I just pary they come to tour in America, make a lot of people (including me) very happy! (lyrics from Going To California) Made up my mind to make a new start,
Going to california with an aching in my heart. dont ache come to california :]
Damn I wish there was video to this!! Best damn Zeppelin song ever recorded in my opinion!! John Paul Jones & Bonham laying it down while Page RIPS over it!! HELL YEAH!!
yeah man, jimmy page is the greatest rock star ever because he invented hard rock, and because of his playing...you know scarface motto:"the world is yours",well in the seventies the world was zep's...(sorry if i made english mistakes)
well, nobody ufficially invented hard rock, but groups like cream, yardbirds, kinks and who were its first players...jimmy page was one of the most creative guitar players and musicians in the sixties-english era,so I said that ;)
I WILL ALWAYS TAKE THIS, OR MOST OTHER LIVE VERSIONS, OVER THE STUDIO VERSION..ANY DAY !!!

Before getting your 12 string try to learn all your chords on a 6 string try to learn triads suspended chords chords that are aumented and way more of chord material.
kentinel234 3 years ago 3

Whenever i look at a 12 string is still looks like theres the same amount of strings as a 6 string
THECOMEDIANCOCK 3 years ago
because the strings are so close together in pairs, so its almost like hitting one string but there are 2 very close together

ESmithStringSlinger 3 years ago
he doesn't play the solo on the 12-stringed part of the guitar !
don't tell bullshit anyway...
Jimmypageledder 3 years ago
wtf are you talkin'about?just watch madison square garden one or earls court version on related videos and look wher does he play the solo...and don't tell bullshit anyway
rikyhendrixx 3 years ago
@rikyhendrixx He plays nearly all the parts with th 12stgs, you can hear it, it doesn't sound like a 6 strings solo, lot of arpeggiattoes which sound quite good with 12 stgs, but he can't make bendings as with 6 stgs!
