  • These are cool indeed. Years ago I had a play with the one in the KPN building in Rotterdam. Was so much fun going past the top floor. Then you pass the top wheel and go down again. Same of course below the bottom floor. :-) The one in Rotterdam was made out of beautiful wood.

  • Yes, a lot of these have been built. Biggest difficulty of these kinds of lifts is maintenance.

    A big chain runs behind the cabins, which is the actual backbone of this lift. When this one is worn out, it is usually too expensive and easier to replace them with normal lifts.

    Hence a lot of these lifts have disappeared.

    I never saw one in working condition. So thanks for posting it!
