  • sick cheese inverts and gravity blast nice job man

  • I like this better than Ivan's. He's very musical

  • thats funny he won i&e 2007

  • 2004 was a GREAT year for I&E solos.

  • The indoor line I was a part of uses these drums, the corps gave them to Vero Beach High School, then they got new drums and we got these, I probably played on that drum. =p

  • omfg he looks like the dude that played drumline

  • he used portions of this solo in his 2007 one

  • his solo from 2007 sounded alot like this and it had alot of the same stuff

  • damn this guy is so fast that his hand motions dont even look natural... it looks spead up like 40x

  • those inverts at the end were just bullshit fast WTF

  • i don't like very much his snare ...

  • SIIIIICK

  • hey does anyone know how to add an extra set of snares to the bottom of the top head on a modular snare drum? PLEASE HELP IF YOU KNOW

  • KIWANIS 02 BAC 03-04 PR 06 BD 07

  • hez fukin crAzy

  • this shit is fucking ridiculous.

  • look how much better he got in 3 years, good job dude :)

  • yeah he is way better than this after 3 years

  • did he go on to march PR?

  • No, he when to BD.

  • ohhh, nvm. he looked like a guy who marched snare at PR a couple years ago in this video. thanks for letting me know. :]

  • he marched BAC in 04, took 05 off and marched PR in 06, then Aged out in BD in 07

  • does anybody know what place did he get for this solo?

  • umm...he won 2007. Everyone starts somewhere.

  • SLOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow this dude is boring to watch, no emotion, zombeh solo-ist

  • That snare is gorgeous.

  • what's with the thriller outfit?

  • it believe that's Boston Crusaders' uniform lol

  • @64wilson i got a good laugh outta that.. thanks lol

  • looks like he is wearing Michael Jacksons thriller costume xD

  • OK guys, dont get me wrong here, he's amazingly good, but he just doesnt have the style of these others, right?

  • no he made execution errors

  • I don't know...

Ivan Pacheco won this contest, and his solo was FULL of little execution errors.

  • @RCRhythm well he made many errors but even tho its hard to add in tricks to how fast he was playing and make it sound good.

  • that part with all the singles was cool

  • i saw the Boston Crusaders two nights ago. it was pretty good but my BlueCoats still won the comp. =P the Blue Stars are amazing btw anybody who can should go see the min Philadelphia this weekend.

  • Did Noel march Boston Crusaders in 2005 as well?

  • holy shit were those single strokes at 0:55???

  • they were average.

  • Which makes you below average

  • Indeed Sir.

  • can u take a look at my video called marching snare drum solo? I'm gonna try to do i & e next year with it, and i would like some feedback from a pro.

  • I think he should have won despite the drop... that fucking left hand section he did was insane... That would be hard NOT to drop.

  • I think he won 07 or 08, He does that same trick flawlessly check it out

  • Ooof, probably would have won if he didn't drop the left hand.

But still CRAZY good. I could never do that. LMAO

  • over all a damn good drumer. i hv no complants

  • what place did he ended

  • sicker than sick

  • Made up for that stick drop man...seriously it got a little shaky after it but then you just went....BLAM made it work

  • what is that crazy one-handed rim roll called at 3:28?

  • thats called a gravity blast,

  • yeah. we had a guy from drum corp help us out my freshman year in 95, and we he did it, we almost threw up lol. it was that sick!! =)

  • You should really say which corps he represents. (BC)

  • That is wicked F-A-S-T...

Got more chops than a hibachi bar!

  • ayo, anybody know who he played for back in '04? I know he plays for the blue bevils now, but who did he play for then?

  • Boston Crusaders. He has aged now though.

  • I like the way individuals is set up here, there is like major crowd interaction as everyone is around the drummer. I like that, it should be like that so its not so much pressure instead of you being up on stage.

  • uh oh...STICK DROP!! lol. im just jokin. you're good and you MORE than made up for it...but you are one cold bastard. i feel ya though...just go handle business

  • He has talent, like holy shit omgz talent, but the other drummers brought more of their own personality into their style.

  • aww that sucks, that he dropped his sticks, especially cuz you work so hard. but other than that WOW!

  • Did he do backsticking invert cheese's at like 0:36 - 0:40?

  • Those are all paradiddles.

  • He could've won, but he mest'd up his stick tricks, that ruined him.

  • fucking slap my ass and call me sally. thats a drum solo

  • *slap*

    sally

  • lmfao

  • I dunno, that is still to this date one of the most technically sound, most difficult, and "closest to being perfect" solo I have ever seen played at that tempo. Unreal...I'm in awe everytime I watch it.

  • 2:19.....the finger trick didn't work for him this year but he NAILED it in '07.

  • lmfao at like 104 his singles become double stops =[ but very good solo

  • seems like he plays that same pattern the whole time, but good solo nonetheless.

  • holy fucking mother of god

  • it doesnt even sound like a marching snare drum

  • wow. noel's got hands. I can't believe he got to march Boston, Phantom, and BD. LUCKY lol

  • yea but now he's dead broke lol, he was supposed to march infinity this year but couldn't cuz he was out of money.

  • And they wouldn't let him march!? Ouch...

Considering ALL of his experience plus his 2007 snare champion title, they'd help provide lol.

  • lmao dumassss

  • Anyone know what place he got?

  • I saw him on the drumhard forum say he got 2nd place.

  • thanks!

  • yeah..............your a comlete dumbass thats uniform

if you were in a band youd know that

  • sure looks like he would have lost some big points when he dropped his stick. however, if it wasn't for that, that part could have been commentlessly awesome

  • wow. that is uh..... that is something. and i don't even want to look like i'm bringing the video down. that was sick.

  • this is the same exact same solo that he won with in 07. just a lot cleaner. lame.

  • Are you deaf? And blind?

  • I mean a lot of it is based off 04, but he did change some parts. My instructor helped him write it in 04 after they marched Stryke together.

  • Gah, looking at this video compared to him in 2007 Blue Devils is hella amazing. It bothers me to see the performance tics in this video. lol

Only because I saw his 2007 solo first

  • this guy's technique is picture perfect, but i still think ivan pacheco got the win he deserved.

  • he has amazing control.

  • 2:18 through 2:38 was just a mess and should have been axed out of the solo. The rest was just unreal. This guy is a machine. He plays tight as hell. I've seen this clip a hundred times and am amazed each time!

  • ha he won this 2007. lol what corp did he march here?

  • He was with the Boston Crusaders at this point.

  • This guy plays some incredibly hard shit and wicked fuckin fast, but he should have been DQ'd for the stick drop. When I did solos in high school that's the way it was.

  • They don't DQ just for a stick drop. They knock off points, depending on how much it screws you up and how well you recover from it.

  • That makes sense because at this level and speed, dropping a stick is probably easier than it looks.

  • haha he dropped his sticks

    hes still good

  • I love the paradiddles :) but 2:34-40 is kinda risky...but good overall

  • WOW 00:35~00:40 was the best ending =D

  • Hell yeah by any chance do you know wtf that is? cuz i sure as hell dont

  • the drum is a dynasty, i believe that's what you're talking about.

  • i meant the notes between 35 and 40 seconds haha they sound rad

  • It's a hybrid rudiment called Herta's. Two 32nd notes and two 16th notes put together.

  • lol those are NOT hertas those are grandmas but they are accented, RLRRL RLRRL RLRRL, like that, heh I asked him myself so I know thats what it is. All 32nd notes.

  • an overall nice solo. lots of cool stick tricks but the note were ehh.. just one question. wtf is noel playing on? cuz that does not sound like a snare drum.

  • He's playing on a Dynasty snare, it sound like that, but also the camera may make the sound of the snare sound off.

  • yeah he is really great. i was lucky enough to have him as a tech at my HS this past year...amazing player and a good guy :D Congrats on winning I&E this year!

  • Congrats to Noel on winning 07 I&E!

  • I playedwith him for about 25 minutes at a show in Tupelo. Hes really cool. He also has monster chops!!!

  • 1:36 to 1:45 is crazy!

  • Ha Noel Alvarez marched BAC (Boston Crusaders) 2004 and 05(?), then into PR for 2006, and nows he a BD man!

  • this dude won high drums back to back at 2 different corps?

  • yep. Guys ridiculous.

  • No, he marched BAC in 2003 and 2004. Took 2005 off, marched Phantom in 2006 and or course BD in 2007.

  • who did he march with in 2005?

  • He didn't march anywhere in '05

  • Thats so sweet hes entering one this year too, he marches BD.

  • That's a whole lot of straight rythms. I would love to see the sheet music for this somewhere, just to boggle my mind.

  • he's playing Blue Devils for 2007

  • EXCELLENT STICK CONTROL. VERY CLEAN.

  • I just noticed that this guy was on the 06 Phantom Regiment snareline

  • why did they turn out the lights close to the end?

damn, walk the dog ruined it. shit, that sucked for him. but head up dude, still you did good.

  • damn if he hadnt dropped that stick

it probly wouldve worked out better for him

  • good to see someone from the boston crusaders up here showin their stuff

  • dang. the dropped stick probobly killd his place but besides that hes good.

  • Not too bad... there wasn't much of a frame to the solo... he has some chops... no lie... but so do a lot of people. The trick to these is to phrase the solo as a song... and have high and low points... not just chopping out the whole time.

  • hmm.. some diddles. swiss armies.. and show off back hands that sounded like a 4yr old... oooooo so scared

  • but you still couldnt do it. So shut up

  • why u hate?? im only 15 i hope to get that good ...(been playin for 3 years only freshman snare in my skool..)

  • I was sitting under the camera that recorded this...this man had hands!

  • he is only a 4 X world champion

  • Jeff Queen is the best retard

  • Ha ha ha!!!

Jeff Queen is the best retard?

  • yep

  • I dunno..

I can think of at least ONE better retard.

  • who RETARD

  • Dude, I totally just realized that you can spell "RATED R" out of the word "retard."

  • cool i didnt know that lol

  • yea i guess so, he did have some really awsome tricks.

i give him props for that, i will never have that kinda talent so i should just shut up lol

  • i think youguys all need to realize, that he scored in the top 4 at I&E. Making him one of the best snare drummers um...er...in the world? yeah, pretty much the world.

  • hes really good, but he should have some sence of humor, cause the other guys did, which probably scored them points.

  • i love dynasty drums...my favorite brand next to Yamaha...but...that one sounds a little funny...no wonder the Boston Crusaders ended their dynasty contract.

  • I'm a fan of Pearls. They're by far the most reliable. Really the sound of the snare is dependent on the heads and the tuning, although, any group that played on dynasty in 04 sounded weird.

  • omg my freaking god... that's amazing

  • You know, I used to think I was pretty good, then I saw this....

  • good chops

  • He pulls off some amazing stuff, but I hate how he plays a straight rhythm with no rests. Make it a little boring. But this guy has some chops.

  • WOW!

  • From a Set mans point of view. This dude is nasty. I wanna see yall do that on the set!

  • jesus bloody christ...

  • besides the drop.. id say that was one HELLOFA great job!

  • DAt was PreTty Tigt, But Y HE KeEp LoOk N down oN the SnAre??

  • iT dOeSnT rEallY mATter NoW DOes iT?

  • VERY AWESOME! I love his showmanship. It's hard to keep going after you mess up really bad. Great performance!

  • VERY INCREDIBLE! that guy is great

  • I love how one person always makes a wow you suck comment, and then people yell at them. It's obvious that they don't suck, just watch the video. No need to defend them, let the drumming do the talking. Great performance.

  • Amazing Talent

  • Noel was a tech for my high school drumline one day. Cool guy. And he doesn't suck, no one is perfect.

  • Who did Noel march for this year?

  • Phantom Regiment!!!! If they woulda let him compete DCI he would have won...

  • pfhhh. you suck. dont drop your stick next time a-hole.

  • Even with the stick drop, he should have won. Noel is probably the best snare drummer to compete in DCI I&E in the last five years or so.

  • Wow..i cant believe I am just now seeing this..Great percussionist!

  • I love the range of his singles, very nice.

  • can he play drumset?

  • I liked the showmanship. He looked at the audience rather than focusing on the end of his sticks. Rolling the sticks between the fingers is an art that is appreciated more with a camera closeup. Was the cameraman asleep?

  • If he hadn't dropped it he probably would have won....

  • I agree, was pretty cool though when he ran it thru his fingers-gave him a 4

  • I'm not a big fan of dynasties, and this one is tuned poorly. I wish he could write a solo that wasn't just flam drags and a bunch of backsticking...

  • thsi is nice! its not that he dropped it...but that he sitll picked it up and finished what he was doing. im impressed. he has heart. lol and rc rhythum...im sorry about that herpes.

  • I think Noel said that he had just turned 18 when this was filmed. Pretty impressive for someone that age. I got herpes when I was 18.

  • haha lol

  • Hahahahahahahahaha - HERPES! >.<

  • excellent...great showmanship and precision...

  • Cool technique running the stick through his fingers, too bad he dropped it. I still give him four stars.
