bah mac app sore blows... at least right now. I browsed it for an hour and couldn't find one single app that I would even remotely find useful (except maybe COD4 but right now I'm trying to get off video games :P) Lots of tiny pointless apps like the iphone app store. Maybe in time better apps but I just hope it wont wind up like the iphone app sore with slews of useless apps.

Another example... djay. $50 in the MAS, and $20 for the iPad. The apps are nearly identical. I should have to pay more than twice as much for essentially the same exact app.

I refuse to pay money for the apps in the Mac App Store. Why? Price. For example, Angry Birds. It's $0.99 for the iPhone (still FREE on Android for some reason). It's 5x more money for the iPad/desktop version. What's up with that? That's just not right. I hate saying it, but it looks like I'll have to use cracked Mac apps.

@davomrmac without backup? can you just redownload them? what about payed apps, do you get some kind of "serial number" or anything that proves that you bought that app, if your mac is stolen, lost or destroyed?

@TheGregaM I am not 100% sure, but should work similar to iTunes, backup your library to be safe, if you did lose it an email should see Apple allow to to redownload your purchases.

The "huge" price-differences might be due to the license. Remote Desktop is for 10 machines when purchased physically. But for how many machines will the version downloaded via the AppStore be? Also Aperture 3 is it really complete? Or is it necessary to purchase updates and additional effects / items? Frankly I don't trust Apple on this. What do you think Dave?

@KarlCast Thats called launchpad and it is included on 10.7 Lion which comes out in the summer.

are you sure with aperture 3 there is not a app store virsion and  a normal virsion coz i highly doubt apple would charge that much more for shipping and a disc if so that should be classed as robbery
