Nationality MATTERS - name 1 middle eastern ballet dancer. 90% of all ballet dancers fail because biologically they are not fit. They did not mean to "dance". Actually they won Gold Clown at Monte Carlo in 2002 for their startling acrobatic skills. People do like this kind of collaboration between circus and ballet.
I WAS SO FREAKED OUT WHEN SHE WAS DOING STUFF ON TOP THAT GUY'S HEAD I WAS SCARED SHE MIGHT FALL OFF AND BREAK SOMETHING but everything was just graceful and elegant...though scary at some point but still graceful and elegant....a beautiful piece i got to say ^-^

@ashleycolella her pointe shoes r fine...ive seen a lot of professional dancers with shoes like that....totally normal. the weird shape is there because the shoe is already broken in and has conformed 2 her foot, but the box is still hard so her foot is supported there and she can balance....thats why the shape of her foot doesnt show through the box....if it did, the shoes would be too soft and broken in 4 her 2 continue using them

wow, every time i see this video it's hard to breathe, lol. i just realized that there looks to be a notch in his headpiece for her pointe shoe, thank goodness! and i especially love how after all the fanciness they ended the piece with a classical pose. lovely!

That's because our government doesn't subsidize dance, or performance art of any kind. These dancers train every day from a really young age. In the U.S., that's not financially feasible unless your parents are wealthy enough to stick you in hardcore dance from the age of 4 so you are training every day for your whole life, you won't ever get as good as this.
@outtah i feel like this is a very strange statement to make. because it is extremely subjective. yes, this dancer is incredible. her flexibility, strength, and balance is probably unparalleled. while very impressive the rest of the dancing does nothing for me, this is a stunt piece. i have seen many american companies do actual DANCING that i find much more moving than the dancing in this piece.

His strength - amazing, her grace - fantastic, his balance - unbelievable - her trust in him - complete, their talent - incredible. An awe inspiring dance full of wonder and beauty.
Though quite stunning, I did have to wonder about the guy's saftey afterall she's putting on the weight into the point of her toes which she's placing directly on his head...
Amazing, but a bit intimidating when you think from the guy's standpoint.
The dance is excellent. If you know the story and ballet well, you may find all the key stages of this legend are packed and artistically symbolised within the five minutes performance. Whenever the audience applause, that was the bitter turning point of the story. I suspected the Choreographer was from Kirov, or at least, a great admirer of Nijinsky. I wish to also point out that the violinist is absolutely virtuosity.
The whole of the event is clearly virtuosic, but more circus than dance. I think you're reading into it more than actually exists. There isn't really 'choreography,' per se, as much as a stringing together of the same skills as in that circus' other shows; the staging is simply a pretext for the INCREDIBLE stuff they can do. Though she's got ballet training in her background, I suspect the Kirov had nothing to do with the show. Er, and the aesthetic is very, very different from Nijinsky's.

I understand your feeling dear and I have never disrespected any dancers however I feel you are upset and this comment was never meant to hurt anyone and I suggest that you dig deeper and look through your emotions, understand your emotions in reaction to my comment ! wow, every time i see this video it's hard to breathe, lol. i just realized that there looks to be a notch in his headpiece for her pointe shoe, thank goodness! and i especially love how after all the fanciness they ended the piece with a classical pose. lovely!

this is unbelievable..i cannot imagine how its possible for her to balance on pointe on one leg on his HEAD..like im so shocked i even think it might be fake but i know it's not its just unbelievable to me and impossible to comprehend.

i wouldnt compare it like that, it's rather the different types of dance. yeah this is beautiful, but you wouldnt exactly describe this as exciting would you?

That's because our government doesn't subsidize dance, or performance art of any kind. These dancers train every day from a really young age. In the U.S., that's not financially feasible unless your parents are wealthy enough to stick you in hardcore dance from the age of 4 so you are training every day for your whole life, you won't ever get as good as this.

@outtah i feel like this is a very strange statement to make. because it is extremely subjective. yes, this dancer is incredible. her flexibility, strength, and balance is probably unparalleled. while very impressive the rest of the dancing does nothing for me, this is a stunt piece. i have seen many american companies do actual DANCING that i find much more moving than the dancing in this piece.

The dance is excellent. If you know the story and ballet well, you may find all the key stages of this legend are packed and artistically symbolised within the five minutes performance. Whenever the audience applause, that was the bitter turning point of the story. I suspected the Choreographer was from Kirov, or at least, a great admirer of Nijinsky. I wish to also point out that the violinist is absolutely virtuosity.

The whole of the event is clearly virtuosic, but more circus than dance. I think you're reading into it more than actually exists. There isn't really 'choreography,' per se, as much as a stringing together of the same skills as in that circus' other shows; the staging is simply a pretext for the INCREDIBLE stuff they can do. Though she's got ballet training in her background, I suspect the Kirov had nothing to do with the show. Er, and the aesthetic is very, very different from Nijinsky's.
