That lada looks very nice!! My father once owned a 1500 stationcar, with the dash of a 1200, in about the same colour. After that, he had a Skoda 105L. Now I own two rear engined Skoda's. One Skoda 130GLS from 1990 (one of the last from the old days) and a 120L from 1978, that needs to be repainted, but apart from that, it's still pretty good. :-)

Basically its a Fiat 124, Lada/AvtoVAZ started producing them in 1970 as the VAZ-2101.I owned a Lada 1500 for about five years, very reliable,but it had gears like a tractor.

Yes the Russians borrowed many designs from other successful European automakers so many of the cars look the same.

They did, they borrowed a lot of tech from Fiat, unfortunately..It is a pity they didn't sort out the gearbox on this and subsequent models though, Fiats of that era had notoriously shoddy gearboxes, Lada copied them from the blueprints without ever ironing out the problems. If you ever drove one you would know what I mean. I have driven tractors with smoother gear changes.

I LOVE IT!!! I have the same on with a tan interior mint like yours. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.I also have a 1981 21061 Canadian version mint. I think I like the 21011 better.

Mine Lada 1200 Combi 1978 is not in bad condition too :) I do have several more russian cars like Volga and Moskvich, but I do not drive them in winter. I'd make some videos, but i don't have a camera :(
