  • I remember Laura saying she went into the show with a "proper british accent so as not to sound like she was actually from new jersey"

  • love Laura is shew is fabulous and as much as I love Rodgers and Hammerstein and their musicals the sound of music has never captured my attention but I'll learn to love it

  • Is English not Laura's first language? She has a faint accent here that I don't notice in Gypsy or Into the Woods.

  • no i am pretty sure that it is her first language.

  • @ActorSinger51 She has talked about when she was younger, she had a Jersey accent, and so going into broadway she didn't want to sound like she was from Jersey so she had this weird kind of affected british accent. You can watch the video where she talks about it here: broadwayspace(dot)com/page/live-chat-with-laura-benanti. It's in part 1, about 10:20 into the video, but the whole interview is good, so you should watch it if you're a fan :)

  • LAURA!!! She is my goddess.

Thank you so much for posting this! <3

  • OMG LAURAAA!

her voice was so deep lol

  • maybe because of the broken neck thing - during the procedure they had to move her vocal cords to the side for 3 hours!

  • Laura Benanti is my hero!
