  • Awesome setup bro cool guitar!

  • Was the Einstein on the stiffer/tighter side as far as feel, or more spongy? Or somewhere in between? I'm looking for a high gain head that has a nice spongy feel and is somewhere between the mesa and marshall camps. Nice bass with marhsall cut and nice low mids. Anything you've come across fit that bill?

  • @TheUnclesidandthegay That's kind of hard to answer, since people's opinions on "stiff" and "spongey" are different. I'd say the Einstein was right in the middle. It definitely wasn't real stiff, but it was stiff enough for palm mutes and stuff. Leads felt great on it. It seemed to get tighter as the volume went up too. It was more spongey at home levels.

As far as spongey feel, the Bogner and Budda stuff seems to have that in spades!

  • Wow, almost no difference! Pretty amazing.

  • SgtThump, I know you've sold all your amps, but I thought I just watched this video for the first time. Well done, as all your amp demo vids have been. Not too much shredding, mostly chords. IMHO, it's easier to hear an amp's tone with chords. Also, Diezel sounds a bit "wider" than SLO, which, like my Hot Rod 50, has a hair more "focus." To me, the clean/crunch channel on the SLO makes the open chords sound more jangly in comparison to the Texas channel on the Diezel. Thanks again!

  • @pseudmaged Thanks man! I agree with you about being able to "hear" the amp more with chords and stuff, rather than shredding. I hate amp demos where guys are just playing 100 notes a second. They all sound the same to me that way.

The Diezel is more "hi fi" sounding to me than the SLO. Hard to explain, though. Both amps ROCK!

  • if you had to choose one of them, what would you do?

  • @jakial That's tough! For flexibility, I'd go with the Einstein for sure. That's a very flexible amp that can cover any styles of music. The SLO is no slouch, though. It comes down to preferred tone at that point, so everyone could have a different opinion on which amp they like the most.

  • the soldano grabs u by the balls im impressed it sounds like my jcm 2000 thumbs down for the diezel shame on them for putting such a pricetag on it that thing has no inflection and sounds likew a solid state

  • I like your videos. You do decent demos of amps and play pretty nice. I only wish I could see a video of yours where the audio is not captured by the camera mic. Do you think that maybe you could do a miced amp demo comparison? (sm57 would do)

  • Both awesome but you cant beat the slo's lead channel

  • Soldano is superior. Diezel's are overrated & overpriced. It is a great amp still, love 'em both... THANKS!

  • @flairfan101 not overrated(though i just do not like that sound, too lowend based imho),but surely overpriced.

  • Nice video. . Thanks for posting. . . I love both of these amps. I played the Diezel at a Git Center a while ago and I was blown away by the tone. . but the might SLO is also about as good as it can get as well. Thanks. . .

  • Awesome comparison, keep this stuff coming!

  • Diezel Einstein is easily my favorite amp out there thick and smooth tones and definitely Diezel's best clean amp. Only thing keeping me from buying one is the $3000 price tag. I've played a VH4 and I liked the Einstein better personally. Also compared it to a Bogner Uberschall and played a Soldano Avenger a long time ago and VHT Pitbulls and Sig X and Deliverance and a number of other amps Diezel STILL is my favorite of them I believe it's impossible to dial in a bad tone in a Diezel

  • Hey man, love your videos. Solid, no-nonsense... You're lucky to be able to do the side-by-side comparisons the rest of us can't arrange. And a damn good player as well. We are glad to find videos like yours. Keep 'em coming!

  • @vike0003 Hey man, thanks!!! I went on an amp spree there for a while, so I had several amps come and go. I figured I may as well compare some of them!

  • The Diezel Herbert just calls to me bro, I think I must listen to the call. I'm gonna sell my Road King 2 and buy that beast. It was up to the Diezel and the Bogner xtc. But I think the Diezel is in my direction. Take it easy bro, and thanks for all your vids!@

  • What up bro, I was in a Diezel mood and ran up on your vid. Gotta say man, they both sound amazing. And I say this as a Road King 2 owner. But the Soldano grabbed me by the neck. I think its the bottom end on it,they're both are wicked though. I think the Diezel may be more articulate than the SLO. What you think?

Oh, you just said at 7:23 you had the Diez set a little brighter. Ah there it is, still what you think man? Oh and who in the hell can make a quick guitar vid anyway lol. peace bro

  • @aboveunow Hey man, how's it going? I have to say that both the Diezel Einstein and Soldano SLO are freaking killer amps! I agree with the comments below from "danoverflow."

In real life, the Soldano has very interesting mids and treble. It can be super bright or just nice and "airy" or something. It has this quality to it that's hard to describe.

  • @aboveunow The Einstein is darker (but can be bright too, of course) with more low mids and a more modern tone to it. It seems smoother to me also. The Einstein sounds a little more processed, like listening back to a CD with a polished guitar recording.

Both are KILLER (and I have neither anymore.)

  • Simples Differences

SOLDANO is little high trebble and presenca

Diezel is more low and little scooped.

    Amazing amps

  • Yeah! That Jackson DK2M Is A Good Sounding Model.

  • Ill stick with my marshalls.

I do like the sound of the Diezel's gain channel better tho.

  • ^ in real life i mean

  • Einstein sounds just a tad rounder (from what I can make out of the clip)

  • Naddy light bro!

  • to me the soldano sounds a bit more organic. cool vid. unfortunately youtube compression makes it hard to decipher what those amps actually sound like. :(

  • I stumbled into a Diezel 4 channel at a Guitar Center. . priced at 5k used. Name an amp and I have either owned it or played it. This Diezel was unreal. . I could not stop playing the thing. The bloom and articulation on the notes was way beyond anything I ever expected.

  • I actually prefer the Diezel in this video even though the SLO100 is priced a lot higher and is far more sought after.

I ended up buying the Hot Rod Avenger 50 instead of the Diezel because I couldn't find one cheap enough, and it didn't quite sound as good my seven and eight string guitars, while the Soldano was great with low tunings.

  • brain fart over here! SLO is "super lead overdrive" correct?

  • Correct...

  • both amps are awesome. i'd pick the solodana i think..if I had to choose. once again, great playin dude!

  • great comparing video! honestly, I prefer the Soldano for it's a bit more "creamy"! ;)

Anyway, they're two great amps, both with a really hard rockin' sound! NO modern ultra-gained and ultra-compressed shit!!!!

  • well to be fair, the einstein can get very ultra-gained. but its way better than any of that bullshit that mesa is putting out with those rectumfiers.

  • the soldano slo will do a killer sharp metal tone. you will not lose dynamics witht he slo. the slo is very humbling...the dynamics as so pronounced. my only suggestion would be to make sure you have 6L6 power tubes for a tight metal sound. i have KT66 tubes and they sound killer, but are a bit "looser" feeling than 6L tubes. if you don't require crazy amounts of gain, the crunch channel on an slo with the gain on 6 or 7 is absolutely fine. the lead channel is less "sharp" and has more gain.

  • Cool vid Chris,

may I suggest to get an A/B thing? (just kidding)

    Olaf

  • It's really hard for me to say. As far as I'm concerned, yes it can get a metal tone. But it's a head that was designed in the '80s when the '80s style rock tone was big, so it's really meant for that. Know what I mean?

It can also be a really smooth amp after the depth mod is done. It's pretty bright without the depth mod and it lacks low end (in my opinion.)

I wouldn't say the amp is "brutal" like an Uberschall or anything.

  • I'm in a whole other world musically where I'm still stuck in the guitar tones of the '70s, '80s, and '90s. I don't own a 7-string guitar or tune down any lower than drop D. I've never even heard of "djenty." LOL... I feel old. Ha ha...

I would make a clip for ya if I had a 7-string and a feel for playing modern downtuned metal stuff, but I'd look like a fool trying it. :)

  • I no longer own this Jackson, but it was a fantastic guitar for what it is (shredder with a Floyd.) I replaced it with a new USA Charvel Production San Dimas, mainly because it is less "pointy" and more my thing. But I do like it better too.

Anyway, my Les Paul beats any guitar in the world hands down. The rest are just for play. :)

  • Do I need to forward my videos through you first for approval?

  • By the video the SLO actually sounded Deeper and more bad ass than the Diezel.

  • I'd still go for my Vetta II HD...

  • I couldn't choose between one of them myself.

    Thanks for the upload, dude!

  • Thx a lot for posting! Some fine amp colection you have there!

  • A Soldano SLO-100 with the master on five through a 4x12 cab is a force to be reckoned with! Few (if any) amps stand a chance against against a cranked SLO. The Diezel sounds like a fine amp though...it can definitely hang with the Soldano. The Diezel It has the patented German "graininess" in the top end. Engls and Framus amps are voiced the same way-perhaps that constant high end spike is a German tone preference?

  • Could be. I have a couple of Hughes & Kettner amps and have noticed the same thing, although that company's models seem to have moved away from that tone ever so slightly. Maybe they found it was too extreme for some players... I don't know.

  • Love the George Lynch at 4:00, you got some nice toys to play with there man!

  • Hey thanks man! They're all really nice sounding amps!

  • Both are sweet but UI'm gonna have to vote SLO on this one.

  • I've been using both amps quite a bit lately and I'm unsure of which one I like more. I tend to lean more towards the Diezel for whatever reason.

  • By the way, I get to use the SLO at a gig tomorrow night for the first time. That should tell me alot.

  • +1 SLO sounds thicker, smoother, more organic, raunchier, fatter leads. Diezels sound more sterile and stiff on recordings...Different story in person. IMO Einstein feels better to play than it sounds in a mix, but fun to just kick around on.

  • Great playing and tones! I think the Diezel sounds just a hair tighter, but both are really good, I can tell. Thanks for posting!

  • Sup bro! Great vid.

  • I like the Shiva and Egnater better either way i love your vids

You have the amp gas bad don't you

  • Pretty much! lol... In all honesty, I've been through alot of amps and I pretty much know what I like. But I also like trying out different amps and stuff. I could be satisfied with just about any I've owned. I dial them all in to sound close to the same anyway!

  • Never tried a soldano in real life but it sounds great in the vid. Everytime I plug a guitar in an Einstein I love it! Really want a diezel. Soldano sounds awesome 2 tho! And ur other amps do 2.

    What is that reverb thing?

  • Thanks. I absolutely love my Einstein!!! I've only had the SLO for a week or so and am still getting to know it, but it's a badass amp too!

That's an old Alesis "Nanoverb" I'm using in the Einstein's parallel loop for reverb. It's nothing fancy, but it works.

  • Should have been longer, love your playing!

  • Hey, thanks!
