i've heard alot of recorded live versions of this and i've decided its my favorite talking heads tune. its simply amazing. try and find the berkeley version if you can.
I hate to be such an old fogy, but is there anything with this level of creativity being produced in rock or pop today? If so, I'd like to know about it, cause I'm not aware of anything close.
@rhellman I agree w ClueSign that there's lots. But they're not T Heads clones (thankfully). A brand new album by new band Local Natives makes me very happy - maybe it IS relevant they cover T Heads' Warning Sign? This month I've also been thrilled by Tune-yards (kinda dissonant), Passion Pit, & Galactic. Highlights of the decade?: 4 Michael Franti albums rocked my world. Bob Mould's "Modulate" and Sleater Kinney's The Woods are underappreciated masterpieces. & I saw T Heads play CBGB in 76.
@rhellman While I haven't visited these guys in a while, people have compared Clap your Hands and Say Yeah! to the Talking Heads, I prefer the Talking Heads, but they're decent. As far as creative, sort of quirky rock I'm also a fan of Menomena,
Well then it's a shame that this sound isn't moving forward then. I guess it's up to younger generations of musicians (like myself) to keep the punk/funk alive.
Talking Heads were funky as hell, and this is one of the songs that proved it. Why isn't art school-damaged Punk/Funk like this being produced anymore?
such a great song

Old conversation, but Check Fanfarlo also. Lots of characteristics, but not unoriginal either.

to be privy to
whatever is Mr. Byrne's whim--
tell me, handsome, go ahead na na na naaaa
spinning around but I feel alright oh
