  • You ever try brew in a bag method, pretty much the same thing you did except you put a mesh bag that feels the hole kettle that way the grain is not bound up in a steeping bag and is able to saturate and expand with no problem?

  • @tru2sd yes i use what is called a muslim bag...its made out of a mesh not a solid fabric....what i was talking about was just not jamming the bag full...as far as gravity i havent done this in so long i really cant remember exactly...i just remember when we compared to the same recipe we were about 1.65 % lower than using a mash tun

  • What are your usual gravity numbers bro?

  • my gravitys are about the same as using my mash tun...to real key is having pleanty of room in your bag for grain to expand

  • What kind of extraction rate are you getting like that?

  • @tsuei05 my gravitys are about the same as using my mash tun...to real key is having pleanty of room in your bag for grain to expand

  • @tsuei05 what do you mean by rate? like my gravity numbers? i'd say about 2% lower than what i am getting using my mash tun...but like i said last time you really need to have room for the grain to expand...its really the same as tun brewing if you heat to the same temps you would using your mash tun for the same amount of time before you boil your hops. i really never do it anymore i just made this video to spread the idea. its how i started w/o buy a bunch of spendy equpt.
