Mir is awesome! Anybody that says otherwise knows nothing about BJJ or MMA. People can say whatever they want about his Jiu Jitsu only working because he's a big dude, but whatever, so he uses his size and strength to his advantage to add leverage and powers to his techniques, ans there's nothing wrong with that. Same way skinny little dudes use their speed and agility to make things work, so who cares. Yoy do what works to win, or more importantly, like Frank said "Do what works for you"
I have respect for all martial artist, and absolutely no respect for people who talk shit about on yt about real fighters who have real lives other than being annoying on this web sight
@saberman41 Frank got his black belt under Ricardo Pires. He got it the night he defeated Tim Sylvia for the UFC heavyweight title back in 2004, after only five years of training in jiu-jitsu.
@saberman41 Me neither. I’ve seen like maybe 3 videos of him competing at BJJ and submission grappling events when he was a blue belt, but never heard of him ever winning anything major.
I think maybe it’s because he started BJJ in 1999, and started his MMA career in 2001. Most fighters who start their pro careers usually stop competing in other sports to concentrate fully on MMA.
Plus he's been with the UFC since 2001, & they usually disallow guys from doing other sports for fear of injuries.
Many people can say whatever they what to say about Frank Mir" but at the end of the day, you would have to turn around and slap yourself on the back of your head and admit, the dude is a pretty good well rounded fighter in the sport. He is a great fighter!! and will continue in the future an remain an ICON of the sport. to talk bad about Mir? you would have to talk bad about any great fighter of this era? which is obsurd to even do so? like him hate him he's awsome!!
Ahhh you mma people make laugh. That's all very well Mr Mir but most my followers in my tiger claw shaolin system know I have alertness of a, er, tiger, and they know I could take you down and scratch you raw if challenge... master taught me honest is only way Mr. Mir.....
he makes alot of sense. he's saying what my Judo Sensei says everyday. "just do Judo" if it works use it. dont worry about if the move is pure to the original Kata form of the art. if it works for your body type, use it. i like frank, he's more concerned with being a martial artist than being a tough guy
this is awesome, i love hearing frank talk about submissions/his ground game,. some people tend to think Mir is arrogant but i dont think so i really respect mir as a fighter he is really down to earth and fully understands his abilities as a fighter. which is why win or lose frank will always be one of my favourite mma fighters
lol of course i'm biased towards people doing BJJ in mma but still
@hitmanspartan067 "Time out time out!! Mir did he hit you in the back of the head?" Get for real that was a fluke and the referee asking Mir if he hit him in the back of the head is ridiculous similar to an officer asking you "Do you know how fast you were going?"..
thanks for posting these, Ari - Frank has always had my respect as a fighter, i had no idea he was so profound with his thought processes and fight methodology.
i absolutely LOVE getting a glimpse of what these celeb fighters are like when they're out from under the lights.

I get it, so when he fought Lesnar and Carwin he was using the floor as the base, his face as the fulcrum, and their fists as the lever. I bet they didn't even know he had them right where he wanted them.
great video.. Mir is the most talented heavy weight in the UFC and by far my fav fighter. would luv to see him make another run at the title and i would luv to see him fight Brock one last time. KEEP fighting at 265 ! even though he lost to carwin, physically he looked great and i think that is going to be his key to success. He has all the talent in the world and if he can continue to bring size and strength to the table he will have an edge over alot of fighters.

@shayneOmac187 Frank is honestly the least talented. Sucks standing, sucks wrestling, and has been pounded out on his back by LHWs. He was the perfect match up to sell Brock, before that nobody cared about him cos his only decent wins were over Tank Abbott and a lazy Tim Sylvia.
Frank has had an up and down career as a fighter, but to be honest, as a teacher and communicator there is no one better in the UFC. He's a very down to earth and eloquent teacher and I think a lot of MMA fans would learn a lot by listening to what he actually has to say, instead of all the shit talking that goes on these days.
Ok I'm not a frank mir fan by any means lol. But what he says in this video is the truth and makes alot of sense. I like how he presented himself, teached. And I love how everyone there is so respectable.
Nice !!! You have to be cocky as a fighter , You have to believe without a doubt you can win . He does talk a lot of crap but , this was proof he is a true mixed martial artist .
oh Mir is brilliant. As a coach, and as a strategist he is one of the greatest in the game. Real smart guy, and ya most fighters talk shit, its the fighter ego. Some take it to higher levels then others. Franks a nice guy though
@andrew7913 Are you just trying to be a troll? Mir has some of the best Jiu Jitsu in the Heavyweight world, how can you argue that unless you know nothing of Mir or know nothing of BJJ.

@aceofclubs546 Yep, we thought his outlook was pretty cool. There is a big difference between "camera time" and "candid time" when it comes to fighters. This is a great example of how down to earth he is.
@Submissions101 True true. I have tried to tell people this same thing repeatedly. Anyone that actually watches a Mir interview will quickly see the respect he has for other fighters.
@aceofclubs546 I always respected his ability, but was never really of a fan of Mir's because I thought of him as cocky, when he coached on Ultimate Fighter I gained an entirely new way of looking at him and am a "fan" now.
Since I started at Gracie Barra last month I've watched a lot of BJJ seminars/demos and I've seen a few that Frank Mir has done. He really knows his stuff and he can explain complex things in a way that me, as a 1 stripe white belt can understand what he means.
@aceofclubs546 i think mir and serra can stop any man. its there talent. if mir was serra size it would all be the same.you simply cannot touch him with your hand without him ripping it off 50 ways.
