I love this... Nice chords, too. I only use 5. I would love to use your chords for an upcoming event my school and two others do for every December 10 and 11. I am playing this song on guitar (chords) while my buddy sings and I whistle. The 5 chords I use can get pretty repetitive...
Eliane
I really enjoyed listening to you play & sing this beautiful song, though I didn't understand a word! It does sound like a romantic love song doesn't it? The "original" words to this piece, entitled Greenesleeves, was about unrequited love. Chatterton Dix did not compose this melody, only the familiar Christmas lyrics in the mid 1800s. The melody was probably written in the 1500s, and has been attributed to King Henry VIII, but no one knows for sure who composed it. 5 stars to you, Jean!
Beautifully sung and played, Jean. I can't comment on the lyrics as I would need to see them in print. My listening skills in French are not really good enough.
Thanks for making this a video response to my song.

Absolutely beautiful! You are a very accomplished musician.
Prehaps I should take up speaking French so I can understand all the wonderful French art out there.

Greensleves tune is one of many traditional pagan dance tunes, adapted by early Christians.
If one listens to this melody in the original ancient form, it is less tranquil and sweet, and more robust and earthy. Quite a bit more lively.
