do not get me wrong, the Go's Go's rocked and are definately icons, but that energy most likely came from the coke that was being abused by Belinda and at least one other. In fact drugs and band fighting broke them up. But I don't care...LOVE THEM and glad they finally moved on and forgave each other and went on reunion tour....

Their sound wasn't any more simplistic than any other 80s pop band. Yeah, it's not the most technically complex sound in the world, but a clean song like this is way less forgiving of mistakes than that cacophonic, ultra-cluttered UberMetalDeathCore noise Necrophagist perpetrates.

Actually, I popped up another tab and did a search for Necrophagist before making that comment. I am prepared to admit that the vid I chose -was- a cam recording of a live event, which likely killed the sound quality, but the overall impression was of a very generic Death Metal / Deathcore sound.

And, again, technical skill =/= creative talent. Just because someone can play very complex music, doesn't mean they can create a great sound.

@RyanB2112 Everyone in the band is really, really good (especially the drummer), but they aren't generic (how do you categorize that?) as a death metal act. They're actually a technical death-metal band (nit-picking...) and the guitarist (17 at the time) did all the vocals, guitars, and bass on the first album with a drum machine. While the singing is pretty generic death-metal, after all, not many death-metal vocalists can get different sounds (see TBDM, SS, + Whitechapel), the music is great.

It's probably just sound quality in the particular concert-cam video I ended up watching; the vocals were so loud you could barely hear the music over them, which made me think of generic riffs. I'll go take a peek at some of their official, studio-produced stuff, since I enjoy GOOD metal.

I still say the GoGos have a really fun, energetic sound, though. ;)
