I did exactly what you did. i plug it in from a female mono to an male mono then into my mac. I played a chord and nothing happened. does my mac have enough power for the guitar?

hey! somebody please help. i want to connect my elec. guitar to garageband...im using a Macbook Pro 13in. unibody. i read the comment that "reddog92396" wrote and i dont have a conector in my computer. i only have the headphones slot..... not the other one...
that is what happens to all the computers you need to buy an adaptor it is not very cheapbut trust me it will help you it helped me a lot and tell me what kind of guitar and amp you have so i can help you more
I would like to say thank you. I was having so much trouble trying to get this to work and I decided to check You Tube, and was very fortunate to find your video. It worked perfectly and now I can record my own material. Thank you very much. Sincerely.
First you need a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter, you can pick these up at Radio Shack. Plug your guitar cable into the end of the adapter then plug the other end into your guitar like you normally would. The other side of the adapter should be plugged into the small circular port on the left side of you computer, its not the Headphones port its the other one
wow this actually helped me figure it out on my own. The first few seconds where you changed the input made me realize what i was doing wrong. Thanks for the vid!!
I followed every steps in this video but my imac can not pick up the sound from my acoustic guitar. please help.

NewYorknoodle464 1 year ago

How would you set up an electric guitar to garageband? Do you just place your amp near your mac or plug your guitar into the mac somehow?
MetalMan2475 2 years ago
connect the cable from the guitar to the mac.
using an adaptor into the mic connection.
ringuete 2 years ago
where could i get the jack and whats it called?
mikeg123123 2 years ago
it's a mono adaptor.
just ask for it, from guitar to the standard mic connector of the mac.
