Hey Ed, Where is the scrap yard? Looks like you are in the SE suburbs of Melbourne? Not too many scrap yards let you walk around and have a look any more.
@ZexionNetwork This is his hobby ya fucking idiot, whats yours? fingering your ass and sucking your own cock, now leave him alone or i'll flatten your balls sack ...lol
Nice old holden, I bet it'd be a 253!, no one scraps old falcons and valiants anymore, so keep an eye out for those cars too, they are getting more and more Valuable
Ed , to tell capacity of a Holden V8 just look at the engine number. if the 2nd letter is a "R" it is a 253. It 2nd letter is a "T" it is a 308 , also it is cast into the side of block under the exhaust manifolds. so QR******** or VR******** is a 253.
Maybe you can make something between that new V8 and the other Holden V8 that you have (if you still have it). Maybe get it working, convert it to natural gas, and power the Westinghouse generator with it.
Hey Ed, nice if it's a 308 because old school boys use them, but a 253 is still good to play with :-) I look forward to seeing you review it and bring it back to life. Cheers! Max
Good find on the v8, they are great engines (I should know, I have one). By the looks of the HQ wreck its had a few later model bits adapted to it. Pity its being scrapped, probably a fair bit of useable bits in it. Check out the block # on the front of the passenger side deck, there is a wee lip where it will be stamped. QT or QR is HQ but if it is something different (i.e. torana or factory replacement) it'll be worth some dollars
that rim also fits the FORD ESCAPE,the mazda tribute is a rebadged escape , just chuck the tire inside a junker car or have a midnight "tire fire",the last car i scrapped had 5 tires stuffed inside of it
@daewooparts the Escape and Tribute are made by Mazda AFIK
I don't burn tires here but I can get rid of them for cheap, best to recycle them when possible, but your right about getting rid of them in scrap cars, they all end up at the shredder either way
@BloKK187 tire fires are awesome ! how do you think alot of the concrete plants power up them kelms and furnaces , they burn the tires , then recover the limestone used as the rubber "filler" and whats left of all the steel bands
just on the weather your lucky to have a summer, up here is crappy Sydney we have had so much rain this summer it's utter madness, yesterday was a day of almost tropical rain storms
really yet to have a string of days crack 30 degrees, weird, this time last year it was one of the hottest humid days I can remember
bet tit was the ABS reluctor ring (you Know the ring that has "highs and lows" that runs past the ABS sensor) by the looks of the scoring on that rim it may well have lost all it's bolts and dropped at a fairly low speed smashing the disc and then coming into contact with the reluctor ring? Only a thought?????
If it was a bolt that got caught, might explain the parallel damage marks. Threaded end scraping the line while the hex end turning and gouging in divots.
Could a reluctor ring have done that damage to the inside of the rim, seems like the right area where one would be. Especially as it seems such a regular tooth pattern.
@BriggsMower sounds like you are taking them to the local tip?, I take mine to my regular tire shop and its usally $1.50 for passenger car and $4 for large SUV/Light truck disposals
tip fees are retarded down here. $25 or so for a tire, $35 for a mattress, and $9 each for TV's. no-wonder the back-roads are littered with illegally dumped trash!
@Aussie50 in canada you pay a eco fee when you buy oil /tires /electronics so you can dispose of the tire or oil or tv where you bought it but you cant take more than 4 tires at a time
I had a bolt snap on a caliper causing the brake assembly to rub the inside of the wheel...even more so when I applied the brakes. It almost destroyed the inside of an aluminum rim on the right front passenger side.
Luckily, I didn't have far to drive home when it happened.
@fedorauser1003 nasty!, brad and matty have seen it before too, seems like a good explanation for the damage, metal nails/pins whatever they are in the tire are probably incidental.
Happened on the car I still own...2002 Chevy Impala. Slowed for a stop light when I heard something pop. Got on the Interstate and started hearing a rumbling noise.
Left hand side of the block on the holden motor will tell you if its a 253 or 308 :)
Nasty damage on that alloy, we had a case at work once, where someone had worked on the car before we had, and the brake caliper had come loose and damaged the wheel pretty much the same way.
@4833504F somthing must be really wrong, I tried this vid in 480 and 720HD and its fine, same with a few others that people are complaining about being broken.
not much I can do apart from wait for YT to fix their playback engine,
Hey Aussie, the column shift assembly and linkages are worth more than the motor.

despite the rust Holden V8 looks ok. i'd like to see how well it runs.
tables are good filming platform. interesting that something can enter the brake caliper. popping a tire sends it way off the scale.
