Working with animals is sometimes better than working with humans. Except when you have to clean their poop or get bitten or something other than that theyll treat you better than other humans would even when they swear at you.
An Fiach Dubh,Excellent mate im nursing a young Raven it had to get its leg amputated but hes staying with us from now on his name is BlackJack and my name is Terry good luck to you folks
I'm going to visit Tilgate Nature Center one day just to see Terry. Saw a Peregrine, a Buzzard and a Raven today in Co Dublin. None as cute as Terry though.....
Not only does he sound like a cockney wide-boy when he says "Come on Terry", he bobs his head like one, too. Almost made myself ill laughing. I never realised how brilliantly ravens can mimic the human voice - no high-pitched squawking or tinny sounds like smaller birds - Terry gets it spot on. Uncanny really. On a darker note, why not train him to say "Nevermore"...
Everyone I've shown this to refuses to believe it's real. Shows what they know... Just because they never learned in elementary that ravens can talk like parrots doesn't mean it's not true. =_=
Perfect mimic he sounds just like him. As time goes on he begins to sound irritated "Arrgh", like fine "Come On Terry" I said it. Well a crow told me hello and we played catch with a stick. He was part of an educational outreach program for injured animals. They're very smart.
@tasheena6060 you can say "come on" (the way he says it) even without your tongue (come ong xD) ..so why should they have done that? btw he´s not the only talking raven...
Unfortunately birds aren't smart enough to know exactly what they're saying. Still, the fact that there are animals that can mimic the "calls" of other animals, including humans, is pretty amazing. Learning how to translate between humans and animals is one of the major things I'd like to see happen in biology.
@alphamone: I wonder why the raven in ''The Raven'' said nevermore : /. What did that raven mean with ''nevermore''? I was like: ''Nevermore what? Nevermore will you live? o_O'' Hm, an enigma.
Why do people always think this is a voice-over? It has been proven by the scientific community that ravens (as well as many other birds) have the ability to mimic sounds made by humans as well as other animals. Why is it so unreasonable to think that a raven can talk when everyone and their mothers know that parrots can talk?
@WaffleKopter Because a lot of people like to believe that only humans should be capable of talking or some shit.
Though I don't think ravens are capable of understanding the meanings of words as well as a parrot but I could be wrong about that, I've never owned or trained a raven, they just don't seem very capable of it though.
