There was no point to that fight, as the Oscar is much weaker and only mildly aggressive in comparison to the stronger hyper aggressive Jag. The Jag realized this and saw no point in continuing the waste of time and energy.

But more importantly size and genetics, oscars have been away from the "survival of the fittest gene pool" much longer than jags which r far newer and less often captive bred. My (almost) 12" Oscar just got his ASS kicked by my (about) 5" Green Terror. My Oscar ("Arnold") had ruled the tank for over a year (all South American Cichlids) were bought at the same time. Up until yesterday, "Fonzie" (the Green Terror) let Arnold eat first, backed down, etc. But yesterday he "snapped", kicked Arnold's ass, now Fonzie is The Man. Punked Arnold like a bee-otch.
I saw your video , nice and tough oscar you got there!!! It depends on the character of the fish though .In my opinion most of the times the oscar wont get well through these fights.

The reason the jag turned around is it likely knew the fight was over, and claimed the area that caused the fight to begin with. The Oscar backed itself into the far glass away from where the fight started, the jag simply turned and took his prize. My rosequeen literally ripped my tiger oscar's lower jaw into two distinct pieces. Afterward, his jaw opened like the"Predator". :). Love my fish, all of them, the natural architecture jaw structure of an oscar that is 9" or less just does not afford it the structural integrity or power of say a rosequeen.

I've owned oscars and many other cichlids. I love all of them. My convicts, though much smaller, used to whoop my oscar. Moved 30 to 140 gl now, they won't touch him. He backs down from my 10 inch midas's. Oscars just have weaker jaws and VERY small teeth. He pushes the flowerhorn around but when they lock up, he loses. This case both very aggressive, one with better equipment for fighting. Jag has larger more powerful jaw structure, takes bigger bites and has bigger teeth. Jag wins. Love both

@jwimmel53 I made a mistake. Don't have a Midas. It's a Rosequeen 10" from mouth to tail. After moving to my new larger show tank, the oscar found a new set of balls and started whooping fish who previously backed him down and chased him into hiding. Then, he went for the Rosequeen. She not only backed him down into a corner, but she locked mouths, and did an alligator roll and tore his bottom lip in two and chased him until he was exhausted. He looked like the Predator until he died of shock.

I don't agree, oscars aren't anywhere near as aggressive as jaguars and don't have the jaw strength of one either.Unfortunately, Jaguars are like red devil's..can be fine with other fish for a year..then one day snap and go on a killing spree :(
@GearsOscar I know , We used to have a breeding pair of Jaguar's and even with the fry when they are only 6-7 cm, its not uncommon for them too fit smaller fry 4-5cm in their mouths : /, it may seem as if the oscar won this, but it won't be long before the jag does some major damage too one of those fish. Atm we have a breeding pair of Umbi's . Pm me for photo's. Alot more aggro then even the jag pair.

@ScerionNkNexus Green Terrors are not as agressive as Jaguar cichlids, they are one of the more agressive American cichlid. Jaguar's grow just as big,I realize that oscars are agressive fish.. But Jaguar vs Oscar.. the Oscar will end up being killed. I have even seen cases where a fully grown Jag broke through a barricade and beat up 2 massive oscars.It's just not a risk I would take.The oscar is lucky to have any of it's face left.

true but on the most part, 80 percent of the time, a jag or even a red devil would dominate an oscar. oscars aren't aggresive cichlids by nature, they jus get big and are hungry all the time, they are more of the gentle type wen compared to other fish of its kind
i think the red devil and jag are a pretty even fight honestly, i think the size is really the main factor on the winner, but every fish is also different with agression levels. its a 50/50 chance i believe.

stop fuckin hating cause the oscar lost both fights,even if the oscar just throws its waight around that doesn't mean it won...at the end of the oscar vs midas fight you can clearly see the oscar backs down.
this fight;oscar tried to stop the fight 3 times and 2 out of those 3 time it failed...the jaguar realized that the oscar wasn't worth it...pathetic hypocrite

The Midas in the other video turned around and left. Same as the jaguar in this video. IMO that means they lost, they ran away. I cant believe you guys wont admit it when its right in your face!!!

I don't agree, oscars aren't anywhere near as aggressive as jaguars and don't have the jaw strength of one either.Unfortunately, Jaguars are like red devil's..can be fine with other fish for a year..then one day snap and go on a killing spree :(

@GearsOscar I know , We used to have a breeding pair of Jaguar's and even with the fry when they are only 6-7 cm, its not uncommon for them too fit smaller fry 4-5cm in their mouths : /, it may seem as if the oscar won this, but it won't be long before the jag does some major damage too one of those fish. Atm we have a breeding pair of Umbi's . Pm me for photo's. Alot more aggro then even the jag pair.

@Breniznit why do you all think that oscars arent good fighters i agree in this vif=deo but this oscar in the video isnt full grown second it depends some oscars are super AGRESIVE and some are not i HAVE 4 oscars and to of them are very agresive they killed a green terror 10inches and a red devil 11inces peace I LOVE OSCARS <3 :P

@ScerionNkNexus Green Terrors are not as agressive as Jaguar cichlids, they are one of the more agressive American cichlid. Jaguar's grow just as big,I realize that oscars are agressive fish.. But Jaguar vs Oscar.. the Oscar will end up being killed. I have even seen cases where a fully grown Jag broke through a barricade and beat up 2 massive oscars.It's just not a risk I would take.The oscar is lucky to have any of it's face left.

jag vs devil very good fighters devil doesnt think when it fights it goes straight for a Attack jag does think when it attacks trust me my jag pick'd on the wrong devil to play with peck'd the side of its body and my devil went straight in for a kill and peck'd him so many times he started to bleed then thats when the devil open'd his mouth in grab his mouth in pull'd him at the body of the tank and was just helding on untill the fish died Jag died that night of lost blood i guess

true but on the most part, 80 percent of the time, a jag or even a red devil would dominate an oscar. oscars aren't aggresive cichlids by nature, they jus get big and are hungry all the time, they are more of the gentle type wen compared to other fish of its kind

i think the red devil and jag are a pretty even fight honestly, i think the size is really the main factor on the winner, but every fish is also different with agression levels. its a 50/50 chance i believe.
