  • This is really neat! Will have to try it.

  • Yet another wonderful video :) I've been wanting to experiment with some image transfers, but would like to do it in my art journal. Do you think this is possible? Or does a gel transfer require a sturdier background such as canvas or wood, etc.?

  • Thanks so much for sharing.

  • where the heck is part II

  • Is there another name for "surgical spirits" is that "rubbing alcohol"?

  • @SOpacugirl i did a search...it is similar. but has other things in it and it sounds like toxic stuff....look on ehow. i am thinking rubbing alcohol will work but may have to be the stronger one.

  • What is SURGICAL SPIRIT? Rubbing Alcohol?

  • Love love love this! Thanks so much for sharing.

  • I've seen several others ways to do this technique but this is by far the best.

  • I LOVE this technique! Thanks for sharing!

  • Is your gel medium like a gesso, or a mod podge?

  • Thanks for posting this. It was wonderful to watch and learn a new technique.

  • what can we use to substitute the surgical spirit? can we use alcohol?

  • Just awesome

  • I had great success with this technique and Golden gel, not so good with Liquidtex. I am diluting the latter and hope for something better as it was very difficult to remove the paper layers. Thanks for sharing this!

  • Excellent video !!! Question: Is it possible to use old photos I have with this technique?

  • this technique works particularly well with the kind of material that old magazines are covered with --as it is not very colourproof and can easily be transferred...with old photos it may not work as well... as that is usually much heavier and different coating

  • @blancha1 you can make copies of old photos with toner based printers,,,not ink jets!...go to Kinkos or a copy store ....those will work i am told

  • :) You sound exactly like my Swedish aunt. She, like you, is also a very talented, artistic and sweet lady.

Thank you for sharing your ideas and art! <3

  • Really liked this technique and I will put it to good use. The only complaint I had was the volume was too low at your recording. I couldn't really hear what was being said. Nice technique though.

  • You have a great channel! Your videos have given me some great ideas for my own projects.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for this great video. Alot of times I'm stumped about what you use for the background. Question: What is the type of gel medium that you use? I see the brand is Golden but they have about 5 different ones at our craft store.

  • thanks. golden gel matte medium

  • cool technique - excellent presentation

  • I love you videos, I can wait for my daughter and myself to try this one!

  • Nicely done! Thanks! I believe that surgical spirits is rubbing alcohol in the USA. Don't use the stuff on the shelf. Ask the Pharmacist to order 99% Rubbing Alcohol and you can usually pick it up the next day. It works not just faster but better than the lower percentage stuff...there's too much water in the off-the-shelf variety.

  • Thanks for sharing Milliande.... This is great! Looks great too.

  • Thank you Milliande! That's fantastic and i can't wait to try it out! Thanks to you and SuziBlu I started my first art journal in January and just have a few pages left before it's finished. Thank you for inspiring us and sharing your ideas; you are a GREAT teacher!!

  • What was that wax thing you were putting there?

  • I did not use any wax ?? Which part do you mean :-)) ...Milliande

  • i like it!

  • Hi Milliande, Thanks for sharing these background ideas with us. So many times I begin an entry in my art journal looking at that blank white page and I don't know where to start.

  • what do you mean by "spirit" exactly. can you clarify the product, please? thank you

  • "Surgical Spirit " ...its an alcohol spirit that is used in the health care centres here in the uk ..you can buy it is a pharmacy store .. I like it because it does not have the potency of lets say "White Spirit" whihc is an alcohol rubbing spirit that is used in the DIY industry ... Hope this helps

    ...Milliande :-)

  • that was a great tip : D

    Peace

    love

    and
