Love making stoves. It's almost an obsession during the winter months. I make my stove a bit differently but there are so many variations. This one looks like a really fine example. I really can't imagine why people spend big bucks on other kinds of stoves when these are so compact, light, and inexpensive. Thanks for walking us through it partner.
I've built quite a few of these with many variations. I've found that filling with fiberglass creates the best all-around stove. Burning a quite reasonable time and so hot it competes easily with a Jetboil.
I expect that cotton would decrease the burn time due to taking up fuel space. The Fiberglass would also take up space yet would assist in burn intensity by increasing the fuel heating surface area and therefore increasing pressure. A stove without any filler material will be able to hold a greater amount of fuel and therefore burn longer yet if not placed on a very stable surface it may tip spilling fuel and fire.

i got a question. does filling it with cotton / fiber glass VS having nothing but just liquid inside affect the time the flame will burn for?

@RJBURG True, anything that holds or stores food needs to be as non-toxic as reasonably possible.
