pointyhead1, the research that you are calling for is summarized in the IPCC's fourth assessment report, available for free on the Internet. The IPCC report represents the current global consensus of climate specialists and it entirely supports Hanson's statements.

Failing to provide even a single paper that says we are at a dangerous level, we can agree, I would suppose, in saying Hansen "exaggerated" the case about the science. Nobody says that in science ( not even Hansen ).

Interesting to see the uninformed "critiques" of Hansen. It's reflective of the massive propaganda campaign the fossil fuel industry has been orchestrating, using techniques (and some of the same people) that Big Tobacco used to deny/muddle that science as well. Sadly, as many millions of deaths as cigarettes cause, it's going to be dwarfed by the suffering that the already occurring climate change, and the potential climate collapse (i.e. the Venus Syndrome) will cause.

Give us the "informed" view ? No.  You have nothing. Hansen was lying.

President Obama please adopt the information provided and language used by James Hansen, Rajendra Pachauri, Stewart Brand and James Lovelock.

Please Mr. President lead our country to address, on the equivalent of a World War 2 level of effort, the fast approaching threshold where self-reinforcing positive feedbacks completely take over and the Earth system goes through a phase transition to a much hotter new permanently-stable state never experienced by man or anything for millions of years.
