I saw this show at the Ogden theatre in Denver Blew my mind away one of the 5 best concerts I have evr seen phish rush iron maiden plant and page included better them any show I have ever seen he rocked from the first song on god bless JPJ
This IS great music, not a weak song on this release.I was lucky enuff to witness the 3-piece ensemble he toured with in support of this album, in a small club with 200 fans (maybe...far from capacity!) up front & the TIDAL wave of sound and pressure was stunning. So f-ing HEAVY!! It would make Doug Pinnick (King's X) drop to the 'I'm not worthy' position! I keep hoping to see some footage from that tour pop up on here 1 day. And yes, the most under-appreciated AND most talented of the ZEP clan.
I feel like he was and is the backbone of Led Zeppelin. Take him out of the mix and it is show over folks. He is sooo talented. Maybe Led Zeppelin sounds did not die with Led Zeppelin. Maybe this is what they would have become.
hey people can you quit arguing about nothing, just enjoy the music or take it somewhere else, i swear youtube just needs to open up a forum strictly for arguing
Lol, I am as qualified to judge music as anyone else is.
But what ever, hardcore fans are hardcore fans. Pragmatic views on music are never appreciated if you so much as look at their favourite bands even slightly differently to the idiotic blind reverence they do.
LedOutMan the music video in your profile is a group of posers who all look the same. They look like dirty, boring, posers. You wouldn't know good music if it slapped you. You like Kitsch art, that is apparent. People like you are always gathering around the champions of Rock and shooting off your mouth like your opinion means shit, when in actuality, you can't even write a decent song, or play your instrument. Go learn to write an unboring lame tune and have a shower.
Your arguements are nonsensical. What the would ever make you think that they are posers to begin with? Because they're not Led Zeppelin? I'm actually a huge fan of JPJ.
No your issue is that your so blinded by the name of John Paul Jones you're unwilling to judge his music for what it is. Open your mind.
LedOutMan trust me, I don't get blinded at all. You are just simply too ignorant, too inexperienced, and not qualified to be judging musicians of this caliber. You are just a simple loud mouthed snot and snob on You Tube that thinks he's clever and intellegent when neither is true. You are just a lover of tuned down typical uncreative garbage, with no substance. Just a group of guys posing with their guitars like dorks. Takes more then a photo or a pose to write song kid. You talk too much
Too ignorant and inexperienced? To be honest you're not doing anything other than showing a huge amount of naivety and close mindedness.
You have no idea who I am, what my interests are, or the genres of music which I listen to. To claim that you do based on my Youtube account alone is simply stupid.
If anything I think you're being a real idiot. All I said was that the song was repetitive, and look at the outrage it has caused. I really have no respect for you, or your close minded arguements
LedOutMan actually, you've told me everything I need to know about you, in a nutshell. You are the one that is blatantly exposing your ignorance. What? You think that by putting this band down it's going to catapult you into thte limelight and you'll get the attention you so desperately crave. You don't get it do you? Your comment is about snobbery, and it's people like you that are constantly shooting off your mouth like this all the time. Stop mistaking your taste in music, for real art.
... You're an idiot. First I haven't told you anything about my self. All I've said is that the song is repetitive. Secondly, who in their right mind would believe that saying this song is repetitive, would catapult me into the limelight? I certainly don't.
And my comment was certainly not snobbery, it was merely an observation that I made about this song.
Finally, how am I mistaking my taste in music for real art? No ones taste in music is art. And you don't know what my taste in music is.
LedOutMan your actions say it all. You say more about yourself by what you say, and what you do. Look at you man, you don't write songs, you can't play music, and yet you think you have the experience and qualifications to ever think your knowledge is credible in judging musicians in a band that have over a hundred years of experience combined. When you hit puberty and you grow up and stop thinking you are the hero of your own world, maybe someone might take you seriously...poser
See this is exactly at what I am getting at. You don't know anything about me and you've clearly made a mistake already.
I have been playing bass for five years, I have written all of the music featured in my youtube uploads, and I currently study music at nights at the box hill institute of tafe.
I do write music, I study music. And I perform on stage with my band at least once a month.
LedOutMan your mistake actually isn't your fault. I am seeing that now. It's your age. I guarantee that when you get older, you won't think the way you do. It's great that you are studying music, but there is more to being in a band, and the chemistry of a band by the members that are involved. You can be in a band, and cancel each other out, or compliment the dynamics of the band. I've studied music for years, and your outlook changes as you get older...you become less judegemental & bias
I am 19. Whilst that may not be a grand age. I would certainly say there was nothing wrong with my observation. It may indeed be different to your opinion. But that is what taste is all about. I am a huge Led Zeppelin/John Paul Jones fan, with an extremely eclectic taste in music, as my favourites on my account will show.
It's fine for you to think that I have made the wrong observation, but the way that you have gone about it has shown nothing other than how, judgemental and biased you are.
LedOutMan nah, I didn't go about it wrong at all. It's takes 1000 guitarists to play a song. 1 to do it and play it right, and 999 that sit around saying they can do it better, when all they are is talk. I've been a violist in an orchestra, I've built my own custom 1 of a kind bass, I have 5 Cd's written, and I toured all over, and I can tell when someone is just wanking off and making impulse comment from inexperience. All I can say is, when you get older, you won't think like you do.
And as for the shooting my mouth off all the time. Are you really that hippocritical? Look at what you're doing now. Shooting off your mouth at me for a simple observation.
You mean to tell me you've never made a negative observation about music on Youtube before? You clearly did it for the band in my profile. You're being excessively hippocritical.
jjcjammer: I love Rush too, but in all fairness, Rush and Led Zeppelin are two totally different styles of music. Led Zeppelin was not progressive or electronic, they were heavy blues oriented hard folk rock -- and the masters of the genre, or their combination of genres thereof. As for sound effects; the grand wizards of that genre ... none other than Pink Floyd, and Neil Peart would tell you that himself!
The reason I cite Zeppelin here is obvious ... John is Zeppelin's bass player and he most certainly brought that power and style along on his solo projects ... heavy hitting!
Holy shit this is John Paul Jones? The Quiet Bass player from Zep? It sounds like Rush and King Crimson had a baby. JPJ definetly likes the heavy, and I likes it too.
@Kichigai90 Well, the basslines on Presence were anything but "quiet". JPJ was always a potential metal bassist, he just chooses not to pour it on thick all the time. Guy can seriously rock that bass.
Actually, my kid loved this song so much he wanted the CD -- and hasn't stopped playing this particular song for 3 hours straight. The walls are shaking.
JPJ ... my God this man is amazing. Here is a man that was / is so quiet you have to poke him for signs of life ;O) We barely ever heard a peep from him publicly, but his talent speak volumes!
I have to say that somehow it has often seemed harder for me to hear Entwhistle's bass-work in a whole bunch of songs of The Who, than it has to focus in on JPJ's bass-work on Led Zepp material. But, when playing live, it was usually just the opposite...
