  • MY FAVORITE PLAYER OF ALL TIME-LOVE ALWAYS

  • Boston sucks ass!!!

  • The reason why it took so long for Jim Rice to get into the Hall Of Fame as a 1st ballot wasn't because he wasn'y good enough because he should have been a 1st ballot but it's because he didn't kiss the media's ass and members of the media remember that and hold these petty immature grudges. Reporters should NOT be allowed to vote for the Hall Of Fame, it should be former players only.

  • Anyone and I mean anyone who remembers baseball from the late 70's and early 80's knew what a fearsome hitter Rice was. Eye problems cost him some quality years but when he retired there were only 9 players in MLB history who hit for a higher average and hit more home runs than Rice. All nine of those guys are in the HOF.

  • @brownstone 3020 Jim Rice was one ofthe most feared hitters in the American League. He was a 3time home run champion and the mvp in 1978 when he had 406 total bases. Reggie Jackson, George Brett, Dave Winfield and Rickey Henderson have all said the player they feared the most on the Red Sox was Jim Rice. If you never heard of him you probably never heard of those players too. Jim Rice is not a piece of shit he once carried an injured child from the stands to medical attention.

  • @ajp135212 that fat piece of shit would kick your ass in 10 seconds. Jim Rice was one of the strongest guys to ever play baseball. I remember a game in cleveland when a pitcher called pedro to come out of the dugout. Pedro came out of the dugout with Jim Rice and that pitcher didn't make a move. If you were ever near Jim Rice you would be as quiet as a church mouse.

  • @sigu655 for 12 years Jim Rice was one of the most feared hitters in baseball. Rickey Henderson said whenever teams played the red sox he was the person they feared the most. Let the man have his day he waited 15 years for it.

  • this was a bad ass baseball player i remember going to a white sox game and saw him check his swing and snap the bat in half bad ass

  • Jim Rice = DH = Hall of Fame what a fucking joke. lol

  • @ftheyanksandblosox

You're 26 years old, and have NO CLUE about Rice's career except in what others have told you to know.... Or you're 49 and living in Mom and Dad's basement eating Doritoes and sucking down Dr. Pepper's like their going out of style!!! Name me another hitter with 200 or more hits, and 39 or more Homers in 3 straight seasons??? YOU CAN'T!!!! BECAUSE THERE ISN'T ONE!!! Name me another American Leaguer from 1937-1978 with 406 Total Bases, You can't!!!

  • Jim Rice won nothing end of story. He is not a hall of famer!!!!

  • Glad he got rid of that 1970's broom sweeper mustache.

  • look im a die hard yankee fan and i hav no problem with rice being inducted in2 the hall of fame. i dont even have a problem with him blasting arod bc its tru arod does set a bad example and really doesnt hav a right to the hall of fame. however rice should be ashamed of himself for what he said about derek jeter cuz thats just plain wrong and disrespectful

  • All you haters just need to STFU one time. Jim Rice was the most feared hitter in the American League for 10 years running. None of you probably ever saw him play. Was the first guy to have 35 HR and 200 hits in the same season 3 times (and, he played when 35 HR meant something) F' Brady Anderson and his 50 creatine powered jacks. Jim Rice was a slow man but sitll hit triples like they were going out of style. Get you heads out of your collective asses and pay attention.

  • And you forgot to mention all of the Championships he won as a Red Sox. Oh yeah...he NEVER won one! Mediocre piece of shit! No one's hating, just stating the facts: Jim Rice was good for couple of years...and that's it! 360+ homers? Gil Hodges has 370 HRs, 3 rings ( 2 player - 1 manager ) and no hall? Fucking BS. Rice wasn't, isn't and will never be shit! What a crock HOF induction!

  • Let's see... Ted Williams, Ernie Banks, Carl Yastrzemski, Tony Gwynn. Yeah, they all racked up the WS titles. Who says Gil Hodges SHOULDN'T be in the hall? But, to sit there and slam Jim Rice like you are is just plain ignorant. Too bad MLB doesn't allow highlights in YouTube. You'd be able to do some anecdotal research and see that you're all wrong. BTW, I don't see any bling on A-Rod's hand either.

  • ..but you will A-Rod with one THIS October! It don't mean a thing if you ain't got that ring.

Sure he's in the HALL but he ain't never getting a ring baby...that's like going to the prom and not being allowed in.

Rice and the BoSox can suck ass. 7 Championships? HA! Joe DiMaggio has more than the whole organization and he's DEAD!

And BTW, none of those guys you mention NEVER won one. It's all about wins baby, wins. Person records are selfish.

  • thank you for making my point for me, dumbass. those guys i mention NEVER won one either. I am not a Red Sox fan, but, clearly, I can see you are just some bandwagon Yankees fan hating on a Red Sox player. I'm sure you just LOVE Johnny Damon. Never mind, he played for the Sox. Wade Boggs? You probably wanted to send him roses after he won the WS w/ the Yankers in '96. After the WS, please respond to this post, becasue Gay-Rod will find a way not to win the WS. You can book it.

  • I had sex with your mom right after last night's Yankee win. The bitch screamed like a pig. Have a great day : )

  • Ok. I win. Nice comeback. I don't hate the Yankees, either, but it's curious to me that the year they get A-God, they become the only team in the history of either league to blow a 3 games to none lead in a post season series. Coincidence? You be the judge. And, to the Red Sox, no less. I'm sure you cried over that one. Oh, that's right, you're single mom who makes you live with that ex-con boyfriend of hers wouldn't let you stay up and watch the game.

  • One loss does not take away from years of winning. And that night my mom's boyfriend and I were pumping a train on your mom. FYI.

  • Ha, Ha, Ha. That's a good one. Do you write your own material? You should have your own show on HBO. But, I DID beat you back on the Jim Rice criticism. So, GO, YANKEES!!! And take the Knicks with you.

  • Actually, no you didn't cuz Jim Rice STILL doesn't have a ring and his stats are mediocre. And I do work for HBO. Strange. Oh...and the KNICKS? Are you kidding me? I'm not that retarded.

  • Hey genius, A-Rod has his ring. Now what? LoL! That's one more than Pesky, Rice, Yaz, and Ted "No Rings" Williams. LoL! YANKEES RULE!!!

  • yes, it looks like A-Rod finally grew some testicles and manned-up. Very impressive. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. YANKEES RULE!!!! And Jim Rice is in the Hall of Fame. Case closed. Unless you would like to argue Giants - Cowboys. I'm up for that. War - Nate Robinson shooting at his own basket. OUT!

  • Oh dude. Don't get me started on the Knicks. Please...they suck cowballs. As for my Giants well, they're hurting even though they won this Sunday. I'm not expecting much from them either. Homo and the Cowgirls "LOOK" good but if DallAss had a better QB they'd be UNSTOPPABLE. Phoney Homo is up and down at best. Let's see today...OH! And Happy Thanksgiving.

  • Phoney Homo. Ouch! Not sure if Ellie Manning is any better (but he's got a ring, baby!) In my opinion, the Cowboys' problem is their offensive coordinator; Jason Garrett. If they'd had a coordinator w/ experience they'd have beaten the Giants two years ago in the playoffs. And, you'd think Tony Romo would have improved / progressed over the past few years. I lay that on Jason Garrett, too. A win today still doesn't guarantee them anything, unfortunately. ..... cont'

  • .... @ NYG, @ NO, and @ Washington remain along with home dates w/ SanDiego and Philly. I think the Giants will win the division, anyway. I'm thinking the Cowboys might wind up 10-6. That's not good enough. Watch out for those crazy parade goers up in NY. Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. Be thankful you no longer have to put up w/ Karim Garcia, Gary Sheffield, and Jason Giambi. I was beginning to wonder if King George hadn't gone off teh deep end again like he did in the '80's.

  • Arrggh! Don't give the Giants too much credit. There offense is weak without Plaxico and now that Anthony Pierce is out...Oh well. They'll get to the playoffs but I don't know about how far. And you're right about the OC Garrett. Horror show of plays. Jeeezus! With a team like that D should be dominating but Romo frizzles at times. Manning is best when he's under pressure. I dont know why? 4th Qtr is his thing.

  • well, i thought Steve Smith and Mario Manningham had the WR spots locked down, but i guess they're struggling. nice prime time loss to Denver last night. Oops. Cowboys roll over Oakland!! Whoopeeeee! Looks like all 3 backs are healthy again. I think Garrett abandons the run to easily when they don't have success on the first couple of drives. Gotta' keep poundin' it, bro'. Eli - 4th Qtr - It's in his blood, man.

  • What did I tell you? The Giants aren't THAT good. Jeeeezus what a beating. I watched that Dallas game - Romo struggled at first but then got into a groove. Those Backs are UNBELIEVABLE. Looks like a looooooooooooooooooooooong sports winter in NYC.

  • @sigu655 yes lol a-hole also tested positive for roids, your correct, ted williams, rice, yaz etc cant compete with that, and oh yeah keep buying those championships.

  • AJP is right, personally I've never been in love w/ A-Rod or Jeter, but this imbecile and fool has no right to disrespect his subsequent generations.

I care less that this character is in the HoF than that I see somebody who when they finally get their 15min moment in the spotlight they need to show that they are on a high horse and how their 'such outstanding moral character' makes them so much better than every1.

Ppl make mistakes, so what, pointing it out doesn't make you a saint.

  • tis fuck has the balls to say he was misquoted.. how the fuck were u misqouuuted shit face u said exactly meant to say faggot saying kids shouldnt idolize players of this era how dare you.. arod is my favorite and through the tough times ill always support him.. if god granted me the power to play like any player id pick arod out of everyone he was truly given pure talent more then this fat old man fuck u jim rice were the fuck do u get off u dont even have stats good enough for the HOF

  • Look at this fat peice of shit were does he get the balls to come out and talk bad about manny ,jeter and arod... first of all jeter has never done anything wrong.. and alex is 100x the player jim rice was look at the stats arod is way better then this peice of shit i hope he burns in hell so what he took steroids move on faggot he still managed to shit on jim rices numbers in seattle and the yankees clean. who cares what manny wears he still put up better numbers then this old fuck!! FUCK YOU

  • NO RINGS RICE! That's what I call him. Mediocre at best! What a piece of shit!

  • @sigu655

Santo and Williams didn't win rings either. Were they mediocre?

Rings are a team achievement, not an individual achievement. A lot of great/HOF caliber players never won rings, while quite a few mediocre/average players won several.

  • What a bunch of hot air from the reverend. Then he trashes all the players from the era after his. Bottom line, his stats don't qualify for HOF.

  • The worst player I never heard of in the HoF!!!

I still want to know.... who is this guy?

I checked this guys stat sheet, besides 2 or 3 great seasons there is nothing. Also zero rings.

He merely got a sympathy vote after being rejected for soo long. Its a shame the MLB Hall of Fame is becoming watered down! (big time!)

  • True! Why isn't Gil Hodges in the HALL? He has better numbers - Won 2 WS as a player and 1 as a manager. This guy is mediocre at best. NO RINGS! How dare he comment on Jeter who has more rings than he does in his dreams. What a bum!

  • the most BORING speech I ever heard

  • Comment removed

  • to the reports,

you finally woke up and give this guy a deserving spot in the baseball HOF. sometimes forgiveness is more important than holding grudges for 15 years.

  • I always said if players like Gary Carter and Tony Perez could make the Hall of Fame, then Jim Rice should be there too!

  • Jim Rice didn' t play in the 1975 World Series due to injury...wonder how it woulda shook out if he was there...Rice used to kill the Yankees...he hit some shots at Yankee Stadium.

  • To EeVvAaNn3, you are a moron...Rice was the game's best all-around offensive player for a stretch of about 10 years from the mid 70s through the mid 80s. He won the MVP once and had over 400 total bases in one season, something only a little more than a handful of players have ever accomplished.

  • it was not 10 years it was 12 years 75-86 and you forgot to mention that rice is the only player with 35+ HRs .300 BA and 200 Hits three staright seasons in a row...the man was beast. some claim he was not good on the road but he actually had a higher BA at yankee stadium than at fenway..some say he was not fast..30 triples over 2 seasons..NUFF SAID!!

  • Dude, all you have to do is read his HOF plaque to understand that your comment is completely misguided. Fred Lynn was better than Jim Rice? The lifetime numbers don't say so. And before you mention Lynn's injuries, longevity is a part of one's greatness. All the players you mention benefited from having one another in the lineup. Nobody was a more complete hitter from 1977 to 1986. Period. You can look it up.

  • hahaha. thanks for the joke.

  • This is awesome. Long time coming. Now put in Steve Garvey!

  • It's about time! He's a very nice man.

  • ???

  • booyyee, you're out of your mind. Jim Rice was an awesome player, and this is well deserved and overdue.

  • Congrats Jim!!!!!!!!
