there are actually 53 gems, if you have an A rank in all of the levels, when you go to the ending level, you get another gem

At the part from 3:23, you can change the ending if you get a lot of A's for your stage times. When that happens, a target will appear showing that you can grab Teran, then that part of the ending will change
