Knut apparently died from a brain disorder and the video showing his death pretty much confrims it and which is why his mother left him because she sensed his illness and because of Thomas's love for him he had four great years, that shouldn't be forgotten..

Few things make me cry, I am proud when i say this whole knut-saga is one of them. These pictures are breathtaking and i feel so sorry not only for Knut who lost his "father", but also all the people who had the privilege of knowing Thomas. Few things are more honorable than the time he gave up to raise this cub. Rest in peace, Thomas. There should be more people like you in this world.

@darkus656 Bears express playful affection by mouthing each other. Since they have thick fur and skin with a heavily insulative layer of fat it's easy for them to do so without doing harm. They can learn to be more gentle as they get older, but can cause serious trauma when younger. It's advisable to wear thick clothing and wrap yourself in a heavy blanket when interacting with extremely young bears.

It's not exactly true that animal does not know if the owner or master has passed away. Somehow some species of animals seemed to know, either because the master has not appeared for a long time or they can "smell it". I mean those people who own dogs, I am sure you have seen how pet dogs become sad or even stayed forlornly at the door, after the owner has passed away. Or how they come to you and sleep beside you when you feel sad n not moved at all.

Hallo Vegatus, ich versteh was Du meinst. Die Erinnerung an diesen tollen Menschen wird aber nie sterben. Und er hat sich für Knut immer ein schönes Leben in einem anderen schönen Zoo gewünscht, und es gibt nun mal in anderen Zoos schönere und größere Anlagen für ihn. Einfach einen anderen Bären weggeben - auch an den anderen Bären hängen unsere Herzen. Sie leben z.T. seit Jahrzehnten im Zoo. Es wäre grausam, sie einfach wegzuschicken. tbc..

Knut worshiped and adored Thomas every moment of every day. I gave presentation at a medical convention in Berlin and took my wife and children to see Knut and Thomas--we flew to Berlin from Northern Va. It was one of the most beautiful experiences we have had as a family. Knut was wonderful, loving, gentle with Thomas--a father, son

relationship, genuine love and genuine respect. I know that little bear will grieve for quite some time.

Hello,

Knut the polar bear is still living in Berlin Zoo, nearly two years old now. He is fine, moving maybe soon to another Zoo where he has company of other bears his age. The keeper who raised him and so became nearly as famous as Knut, died on September 22 of a heart attack. He was only 44 years old.

man u dont know how messed up knut was at the end. with all the human attention they messed him up big time. he used to lunge at visitors furiously and wailed anytime he saw the man in the video. The zoo separated em cause Knut had become big and dangerous. they are meant to be solitary animals and lets leave em be.

Hello, I understand that you believe what was written in some tabloid papers. It was not true - this photo where the bear lunged at a visitor was staged (the photographer told a boy to bang at the glass repeatedly). Knut never wailed when he saw his keeper who was still bringing him the food every day. They were friendly companions until the end, his keeper was very experienced, knew how far he could go. Maybe you don't believe me. I can only say I was and still am at the Zoo nearly every day..

Man! none of the cheap american movies where everyone starts crying has even gotten close to making ME cry. I watched Deutsche Welle's special on this man's love for the cub and kept repeating to myself that it really takes the right spiritual stature to love this way, you could see it in his eyes. When I read at the end of the special that he was found dead, I tried but I was unable to hold my tears back. I wish I'll be able to do something like this for the world sometime before I die.
