  • she put her soul in the music thats why its so excellent

  • I'm gonna get one of these and learn to play. sounds awesome.

  • Excelente....Muito bom.........Lindo..!

  • Totally blown away every time I hear (and see this).

  • To come to know about the historical background of this music as well as the instrument, makes listening and viewing this piece all the more most interesting. Thank you!

  • This really is amazing. She's as great with an instrument as she is at the bicycle kick.

  • Music like this really makes a Chinese feel proud of his heritage.

  • I for one am looking forward to China's re emergence as the major world power: So much culture, so much energy, and beautiful people. Please learn the lessons America teaches at her own cost (that aggressive war is a crime and domination a big mistake), and do not emulate them. Choose the middle path, look both ways, and walk with heads held high.

  • Looks like shes throwing a bunch of ninja stars from that pipa

  • I'm blown away . . .

  • this instrument- pipa has more than 2000years history, it was made in qin dynasty in China...

  • makes me angry to be studying western music

  • Made In China

  • It describes a big chinese hero defeated by another chinese hero who was the first emperor of China dynasty Han. The big hero took off his armor and killed himself, his lover also suicided. It really a sad music.

  • It's so sad, I'm gonna cry. T^T

  • Hello Hello Hello.I m really amazed at the Chinese string instrument you play in

a traditional manner. I wish you and your family a happy and prosperous NEW

YEAR I will also send a vodeo responce. I hope your family will emphasize how

I feel about Dublin Ireland My Birth place as you must with China

My very best Wishes to you all May your God Bless You.... BRI - DAR

  • This song is suppose to describe a tragic event, you could feel it in her playing! That was amazing!

  • George Harrison would love this. :-)

  • The voice of my people!

  • Great Music !!!

  • This is beautiful. I think that the next generation of great musicians are on the internet watching these videos and seeing the entire world and all its instruments. Hopefully the more exposure to music from around the world, the more original and crazy the music of the future will be!

  • @whoisit01 Judging from what you just said, I think you'd love Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Look up videos of them "live at the quick". Their music is amazing and will change your life!

  • @whoisit01

This happens to be the first if not the only comment I've seen on the entire internet that has said something positive about the future musicians of this planet

  • who has goosebumps looking at her hands move???

  • This piece is titled "the Warlord removes his armor"

  • @tiger9502 No!is “the king removes his armor” He is a domineering king, even though he lost the war

  • Love it. World Music is the best. Thank You!!!!

  • This piece is in a non-standard pipa tuning, correct?

  • It's so nice...unfortunately ugly music is dominated today...the so called modern music...

  • wow she's got mad skills.... look at how fast her hands and fingers are dancing among those strings @_@

  • her hand made my computer spazz

  • I imagine myself on a mountain. Fighting wushu... *.*

  • KUNG. FU. HUSTLE... omg she is a master :O

  • Burn

  • insert epic kungfu fight scene*

  • 琵琶是很神奇的乐器,文曲可以缠绵致死,武曲也可以激越到极致。

  • Great pipa technique!

  • :D my mom plays this song all the time at home on her pi ba

  • @Diansonic I'm jealous! :D

  • @Diansonic Really?

  • wow! Cố ấy chơi đàn hay quá, tay rất là nhanh nhẹn! nghe thật hấp dẫn.

    xí xị xá xịa :D

    Thanks posted.

  • What a rock star! Anyone know if anyone has thought of an electric pipa? I

  • @createallow3126 taht would ruin the point of it being traditional

  • @Diansonic You totally right off course! I was just riding high on her magnificent performance and I got carried away! lol :D

  • Guitar Hero: Liu Fang

  • Can someone tell me what she is wearing.

  • @PolskiMale Chinese traditional Qipao

  • @PolskiMale Cheongsam

  • Beautiful, and EPIC

  • I saw her perform today. I even asked for a photograph of her in person after the concert. I even made her smile!!

  • I'd like to learn this instrument, where can I buy one in the USA?

  • hmm i wouldn't wanna compete against her on guitar hero :/

Merci et RESPECT FROM PARIS, FRANCE

  • @HauteGameFR This type of music belongs to the ancient literati tradition where the spiritual side is the prime. Traditional masters focus very much on the inner power and beauty of the music. They perform with grace and consider extensive use facial expression or body movements as a sign that the player is not confident enough to convey the meaning by music itself. Today it seems more like a personal preference. Anyway, classical music of this type is meant to listen to, not really for watching

  • Crazy awesome

  • Incubus - Aqueous Transmission brought me here!

  • shes rlly good :D but im looking for something kinda slower???im not a rly fast person >.<

  • i luv these chinese songs

  • This video needs to be de-interalaced! It's terrible quality!

  • Grace Unto You And Peace,How Fang plays is extraordinaire! The pipa is as true to tradition as change isnecessary to present China: Ai Weiwei! If you live in the U.S.A., write a gentle note to:"The Most Honorable Zhou Wenzhong,"/PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA EMBASSY,/2300 Connecticut Ave. N. W.,/Washington D. • @GoldNCase yeah that's right i say "crazy kung fu" because it's the french tittle of that movie :)

  • Darbukka + Guitar in one lol.. I LOVE IT. Greets from Paris (& ALGERIA)

  • watch?v=Hdn4vBYo6JU&feature=related

check this and feel the real music

  • CRAZY KUNG FU ^^ there is the same music in that movie

  • @Saifongjunfan

    you mean kungfu hustle

  • The pipa is a lethal weapon, it just kills me, such drama played in such extravagance, like a march into battle, yet so delicate at times, like the wailing of a woman...all of these emotions from a simple instrument!

  • I have learned some Liquid Dancing with Digits. Moving my fingers in smooth motions. But this is really incredible, I would love to try playing though!

  • Chinese musicians have been rocked and rolled for few hundred years already. Chinese have so much passion, when will they put some in technologies and science instead of into those western brain washing languages.

  • @beancube2010 Yes, we've been doing this stuff for THOUSANDS of years and the Western world just started using it and think they discovered something new. :P We've also had bling way before it was introduced here. Anyways, Modern China and Chinese culture don't care for the arts anymore. This skill of quickly fading away. Chinese don't even follow Chinese traditions anymore.

  • @ricpride Yeah unfortunately the cultural revolution and the subsequent westernization of China destroyed thousands of years of culture. Confucian philosophy, etiquette, and lifestyle was deeply damaged causing a great loss in the human conviction for virtue and respect.

Information vital to Chinese culture and history have been obliterated through the book burnings as well as the exile and execution of scholars during the revolution.

  • @MengoMango Confucianism paved the way for MOST of Asian culture. In China, no one even knows who he is anymore. The Chinese won't even acknowledge the book burnings and horrible things Mao did. He did more harm than good, in my opinion.... but according to the Chinese he's nearly a god-like figure. Embarrassing...

  • @ricpride Man, donnot spread the rumor... every one know him. But I agree that chinese are ruining the best part of the culture. You can understand that if you know the history of China. It is a country with long history, but it is also young compare with the western world which started the industrial evolution hundreds of years ago. The chinese think the western world is wealth, they want to learn but forget that the only way to earn respect is keep the tradition.

  • @ricpride yeah right, NO one knows who he is anymore. NO one go to middle schools nowadays.

  • @beancube2010 Your comment confuses me... do you mean "when will they put some in technologies and science instead of into those western brain washing languages," ? When will WHO put WHAT in WHERE? I don't think English is your first language.

  • @alphatotheomega7 the story is about 2000years ago, but the music was composed about 200 years ago.the story about a war between Chu and Han,finally Chu lost, Chu king refused to go back his hometown and killed himself.i think the music can be separated into two part, first part discribe the war, second part is the king kill himself.so the first part is Passionate, second part sound like the king is struggling and finally killed himself in front of his queen..

  • Her beauty matches her incredible talent. I hope to see her in concert in the States someday.

  • 很漂亮。我爱中国的音乐。好听, 谢谢。

  • it is about war

  • Ferociously great artist

  • fuck , chinese also invented the metal!!! fucking great !!

  • hi

  • 我喜歡皮耶羅...

  • I really love traditional music <3 I hope this kind of music gets more attention than electronic music because traditional music is really beautiful and need to maintain.

  • She's up there with Jimi Hendrix and Mozart.

  • GOD gave every nation its own culture and traditions, each is unique and beautiful. My top three are irish ,chinese, and peruvian..There should be a world concert, to put all these marvels on display.

  • @FuckYeaImAmerican You're not American... You're a piece of shit. Change your name asshole. You're a disgrace to the country I live in.

  • 四弦の一声は

    絹を裂く音だと

    漢詩で形容していたのは

    この音の事だったのか

    全ての弦を同時に弾きおろす時に

    たたき付ける音のする

  • Pipa,Guzheng,Guqin,Bamboo flute,Erhu. All those creations are amazing!!!!!!

  • Impeccable performance and technique! One thing I have perceived though is that probably nowadays, those universities in China teaching the next generation of great musicians probably have emphasized very exaggerated body movements and expressions which may be more popular in the West, but traditionally, Chinese performers tend to have unexaggerated and elegant body movements. I guess the best approach is the merger of best attributes of different cultures, not copying another culture wholesale

  • @oilcraze

Yeah, what is it with these body movements? I've seen concert flutist and quartet ensembles do these exaggerated extreme body movements for some reason. And now, I see Eastern musicians doing it as well. Why? Even Chinese Dizi players do it too. It's kind of distracting.

  • @Chichiri520 It's a music thing, you know, self expression?

  • @Chichiri520 To put it simply, body movements help instrumentalists get into the music. Imagine how boring someone would look if they just stood there like a rock. With a lot of instruments, body movements actually make it much easier to bring out your own interpretation of the music. I play violin - it's significantly harder to play if I make myself stand completely still.

  • One of the best playing which I have seen. Tremendous control. What is more liked by most people is the histrionics..........many musicians know it. These are all classical music .......centuries old and great stuff...........hats off to the musician, the instrument, the music and the rendition..............

  • The reason (in my experience) that good talent often goes on ignored is that they concentrate entirely on being actually good at their art, whereas the ones portrayed in the media often spend their time and resources on networking and advertising. Sadly, it seems to be not what you know, but rather who you know that will decide the future of your career.

  • Who would you rather marry, a beautiful girl like this or some dumbass spoiled Western chick who's probably going to divorce you anyway.

  • I like her sound and this style and the sound of the pipa for the most part, what is discerning to me and what I think @henryching93 is that if she did not practically ignore the bottom two strings (most will see this as the top two strings of this instrument, meaning the two deeper sounding strings) were practically not used at all. And That is the only thing that makes this music not widespread western music, is the negligence of the entire instrument being capable of sound. Tones, vibrations

  • 像造愛般發洩得淋漓盡致.真享受!!!

  • I have listened to this a hundred and one times and it is so ,,,, so,,, magic, each time, such real quality. Words escape me on this description & comment, you need to weigh me for that.

    Thom in Scotland

  • liu fang is a goddess

  • This chick=Jeff Loomis of China.

  • the melodies are of course great, but i dont like her strumming

  • @donnjuansohn May not be ideal, but it shows all the emotion she is putting into the music. I love it.

  • Ti ston poutso p eine i pipa...

  • Auf dieses Video antworten... All the political nonsense aside: Liu Fang is awesome and inspiring.

  • @seethenamewouldnotfi

Wirklich sie ist eine grosse Kuenstlerin, einfach wundervoll!!

  • Nice pipa!

  • 65 people are hella jealous.

  • @Vlaxitov Look at Bengladesh. They have the highest population density, and it doesn't work out to good for them. If you put every human in Texas, it won't work out good either. You have to realize the human race is to overpopulated. They talk about it every day on a whole buncha news channels, programs, and asociations.

  • @SHUTUPNOOB654 I'm over this discussion and apologize to any third party that happens to view it, especially Liu Fang. Best wishes and farewell.

  • I could listen to this all day honestly. So much emotion. She tells so many stories in one sitting it's amazing.

  • Thank you hjade007 for posting this and the nice description. Very nice piece!

  • @suzytang ? don't start a religious discussion, idiot.

  • @adognamedsally Religious discussion commencing in 5...4...3...2..

  • Stop making fake news and spreading fake information about Chinese people

  • @soopaflychic

i dont understand wtf are you thinking when you see this video, its a music video only.

  • Incroyable....elle a une dextérité hors du commun (ou peut-être du commun occidental).

  • @batia0121, I don't know if you are just mocking soopaflychic, but assuming that you are not, it's true that Indians believe that cows are sacred. However, if we're going to have to accept every other kind of foreign custom (while not in that particular foreign country), there will not be a lot that we CAN do since many cultures have conflicting beliefs.

Besides, this is a video about this beautiful music - why is there suddenly talk about eating habits?!

  • Is there anyway we can remove this xenophobe RolandAxford out of Youtube?? Please vote all his comments downa dn I think they'll be removed as Spam.

  • k se de un tiro, esto es una porqueriaaaaa

  • @RolandAxford How ignorant are you? There are many people other than Asians that do not understand English. There are people from Russia, Germany, Italy, Finland, France, Iceland, Sweden and MANY other countries that DON'T speak and/or understand English. I know I said that you should learn more about Asians before speaking about them. Now I think you should learn more about the WORLD before you say another word. You REALLY don't know what you are talking about. Do you even have a brain?

  • what is the name of this piece? I would like to use it in my IB music theory class in my musical investigation...

  • @bloodmoonblacksky In case no one told you, the song is called "The King doffs his armour.

There is also a second song in response to this song which I can't recall at this moment You should look on Amazon and download the song, if not the entire album by Liu Fang called "The Soul of the Pipa". Enjoy!!!

  • Fantastic... :)

  • @RolandAxford wow, you are a real jerk, aren't you?

  • 99.99% of the Chinese population eat pork, chickens, beef and fishes. I know because I was there 7 times the last 2 years and will visit again in January. What a small minority eat I do not know. Fyi, French gourmet restaurants do serve land snails which Chinese farmers feed ducks with. Many Americans here eat Possums and racoons. So learn before you talk irresponsibly.

And listen to this great music!

  • just in case any one is still fuming over Rolandaxford comments, please be aware the poor dear is just a" world of warcwaft" kid, probly 14 and playing with you all.

She`ll get laid one day, bless her.

  • So here we have it....Jimmy Page, Jimmy Hendrix both can Chug balls compared to this Chinese girl.

  • @mouldyboats All three are better than YOU. Only an idiot would discredit or insult two rock gods to glorify an accomplished young pipa player who does not need dumbasses like you as fans. Fact is that all three are great in their own way.

  • @RolandAxford Asians and every other ethnicity are made in Gods image, you have no right to talk down on any ethnicity, you are no better than no one else as i am no better than you. Repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour while you are still living(if you are still living). Jesus died for the sins of humanity(Asians, Indians, people of African descent, and every other ethnicity, no man is superior to anyone else). Asians are beautiful people.

  • @chimoo09 Whoa there, keep your religious claims to yourself. You can say Asian people are (of course) human without preaching.

  • @chimoo09 Asians are beautiful people, as are other ethnicities and people. Full stop. You don't need to bring religion into it.

  • This is amazing!

  • @RolandAxford I hope you know that not everyone in the world knows English. Also, I don't think ANY Asians would want to learn from you. Yes I know dogs have brains and they use it better than you.

Talking to you is like talking to a brick wall. Why don't you just STFU and go get a life. Oh, wait, that's impossible. :/

  • @RolandAxford Idiot, on your stooopid profile, you mention : " Be the change you want to see in the world."

-Wentworth Miller, Prison Break, episode 1 season 1" ... ????

Its Mahatma Gandhi who said that.. So muchhh racism for asians and non white, and still you follow a quote by someone who is not white!

It shows how stupid you are.. I bet you live in a cave!

  • I like the tremolo version of classical guitar more than pipa...

  • @RolandAxford screw u RolandAxford, you don't have to insult the asians, i mean, look at the comments below, everyones pissed at you. You don't have to piss asians off cuz you won't gain any shit. You should give asians more repect dude.

  • @RolandAxford

Does China or Japan go on youtube videos and pronounce the race that is in the video "bestial" or "promiscuous"?

So let's get this right. Blacks are now substandard because of their supposed fucked up appearance.

In the western world, we generally accept people of all races. If you think asians do not know english and are unintelligent, let me just say that the chinese people where I live are the highest achievers, and speak english better than you, you fucked up shit pile.

  • @RolandAxford Did you just step out of a time machine from 1880? Either way, you really need to catch up on the way the rest of the world thinks.

  • @RolandAxford

You are the most prejudiced individual I have seen in my life. I can securely say that you are the typical white American that lived in the 1930's when they thought blacks were substandard. Move on, the world has advanced and sophisticated during the last century. I live in Canada where there is multiculturalism. What occurs when you mix minor genetic differences (not individual races) together? Racism? Hate? No we are all mature enough to understand that appearance doesn'tmatter

  • Beautiful playing
