  • Agreed. Everything with Melody/River and Amy being kidnapped and replaced with a duplicate during her pregnancy was buildup for what should have been an enormous emotional arc (possibly the biggest in the whole show so far) full of pain and grief and fear and growth that should have profoundly affected Amy and Rory's marriage for better or worse for quite a long time, as well as their friendship with the Doctor (who did, after all, fail to find their missing baby and return her to them).

  • @taaroko This is exactly my feeling. I just feel really disappointed in the way things turned out and it has actually damaged my view of this series to see the River Song story taken to this place rather than a longer and more emotional one. Instead we just have irritating reminders that the Doctor is going to die and filler episodes which are good but could have been better if connected to the "let's find Melody" plot line. But it was done and dusted within ten minutes of 6x08.

  • @cardwitch91 I'm still holding out some hope that they'll come back to the emotional arc before the end of this series, because it can't just be over. All they have to do is say that Amy and Rory were in denial for a while and trying to act like nothing was wrong, but then the ton of bricks that is their shiny new emotional baggage finally caught up with them. And since they do know that Melody grows into River and they spent lots of years with her as Mels, I could understand a little denial.

  • @taaroko I certainly hope it is addressed again soon because it isn't realistic that they would get over the loss of their baby so quickly.
