  • Is that a stock flywheel? seems like a weak design and I'll be looking to replace/modify mine...

  • how do you get the two top bell housing bolts??? They are inverted torx E12 right at the firewall. Everything was going smoothly, that's all I have left is two bolts and it's out. Thanks.

  • Great engines, run forever, amazing low end torque...more than the whimpy v6's they put in wranglers today...

just cant beat a old fashion 4.0.

  • My dad had racked up 360,000 miles on his XJ before selling it. What do you guys and girls think about the 4.0L I6? I've only heard positive praise about these things!

  • @MechForce i think it s a reliable motor mine has 200.000km and apart some knocking piston noise..it s still in good shape ..

  • The worst thing they ever did was drop the 4.0, these things would last forever.

  • whenever i pull engine i always take the whole front clip apart. i find it much more easy cause i dont have to move the engine all around to get it to come out.

  • :D damn i love 4.0's and my jeep

  • inline six monster

  • im pulling the motor in my wrangler and want to leave the trans and transfer case and intake on is this possible and were can i hook on ? thanks

  • thats pretty sweet...i got a 1990 Cherokee Pioneer 5 speed thats got 330,000 and still going strong....LOVE my jeep :D

  • do u think the mopar 392 hemi would fit in one of those

  • hey i have a 89 it has 130k on it i think, mine does not over heat but the first time i took out the oil budyy was telling how and fucked up and i drained all tranyy fuild then doulbleed the fucking iol capacity cause hes a dick. then ran about 10 miles, found problem and fixed, just wondering what kind of problems could arise at times the trany seem to wait longer to shift when hot. its an auto

  • i had put aluminum sealent int the radiator with a bottle of that pebbled block sealent, it seems to be ok. I need a moter, mine has 260+ miles

  • way to go jeep!!!!! the engine was pulled verticle and level. ahaha it took one hand too. cherokee must have been designed for military operation's. I have a xj made in 1987. 280,000 miles behind it's original strait 6. It is thirsty, water wont remain in the coolent resivore. Can I take it 60 over and keep it trail ready? you know with out running hot? got 33x12 fives.

  • whats up man let me know more about your jeep you have to see were the water is goin cuz if there no water in the system it will never stay cool no matter what i got a 89 and had 2 92s so if you need any thing let me know good luck

  • yeah it does look clean.. but he might be puttin in a 350! haha or maybe a diesel.. who knows...

  • What was wrong with it? It looks clean.

  • dude idk how u got that bastard out iv been tryin for 2 days theirs this one bolt on the back side on the top that connects to the transmission and i can barely get my hand in there any suggestions

  • Mate late comment here, but did you ever get that sucker out, its giving me the shits, I'm 2 days in now, and fuck its annoying.

  • dude its alittile later but did you ever get that out i got 2 of thoses under my belt if you need any thing

  • Did you have to take off the intake manifold? to get some of the bolts on the side of the bell housing?

  • Yes.

  • tight fit.

R these an old push rod engine?

    when were they first used?

my aunt had one in canada when we visited from UK.

    Hers was only 2wd....wierd?

  • Whats up. Where do you live? Wanna do that to mine? I threw a rod with 188,000 on it. I was cranking though. It was a good jeep to me. My first. Still got it. Waiting for some life blood. Nice vid. I hope to be doing that soon.

  • you know it would of bin easier swingin the motor out the front instead of straight up. All u had to do is unbolt the rad and the whole front clip comes off.

  • Seems like removing the front clip would just make extra work because it wasn't really in the way anyhow. No point in removing it as far as what I experienced.

  • Looks awesome though.. but wondering the same as the comment by camaro2007.. Engine alright??

And look, there is a smiley face on the hood!!!

  • Yes, engine ran fine. Rest of the jeep was in really bad shape. Was having it hauled off for junk so I pulled the engine first.

  • @mainejunker body of the jeep cherokee is ruin? idk what you drive it before?

  • Are you puting a small block in?

    Is that motor still good?
