The reason the show included the flashback was to show Josephine knocking Dawson on his butt. Chasing Dawson like /she/ was a boy. And then 'giving up' and just walking by his side to be surprised as he took her hand. Strength in quietness. Acceptance in simple companionship.

Joey screwed up with her 'person, not moment, process not purpose' blue-balls speech and then 'do me screw me give it to me, or else!' ultimatums after throwing Dawson away for the second summer in a row for doing the right thing. Making it clear everything she said was a lie and she really was just a cheerleader in search of the jock with the fastest car.

The woman who portrayed her was and is a succubus not a friend or lover to anyone and thus the sadness is that every other woman still wants to /be her/ because all they see is the pretty girrrrl power trip, not the ugliness of the person who ruined a story book tale by acting like a cheap piece of tail for her own convenience.

Nope! I adored Dawson! Pacey's character was much better when he wasn't with Joey. Joey seemed to dampen his personality. Now when Pacey was with Andie, he was great! They made a great team!
