  • Wats the deal, how much overdubbing did they do. Theres obviously 1 guitar and then a 2nd guitar doing small overdubs. And the vocal harmonys are flawless. Maybe it is live.

  • Surrender! surrendeeeeer But don't give yourself away!!! *---*

  • memories memories.... :-)

  • I was the editor on this project. The original tapes were lost for years, surfacing in a vault in NYC in 2008. I color corrected and restored the video for Threshold in Santa Monica. As you can see, it came out very nicely! I really have to thank the Japanese TV engineers, who delivered a super high quality master tape. As a child of the 70's, it was a thrill to work on this project. I hope you enjoy it!

  • @tellysworld Tellysworld, Thanks so much for your work...to the Japanese engineers....

    ありがとう!!すごく楽しいです。。。(Thanks so much, it's great)

  • @tellysworld Do you know why the songs "Come On, Come On", "Need Your Love" "High Roller" and "Big Eyes" aren't on the video???

  • we're all all right...We're all all right...WE"RE ALL ALL RIGHT...WE'RE ALL ALL RIGHT!!!!!!

  • Seen them a couple times.....first time they open for KISS

  • My uncle was at this concert in 78. He was in the navy and while they were in the budokan port for a while he went to this concert. Cheap Trick rocks!:)

  • 6 people have mental issues

  • Their best album!! I've been listening to it for just about 30 years...OMG...has it been that long? Still love it!!

  • awh man! this is so awesome! :D

    <3 budokan arena!

  • finally i found it!!...' detroit rock city ' movie brought me to this!!... :D

  • They sing live so simply like in the studio !! I love this kinda music.. No autotoned-type shit... !!!

  • Got the vinyl, Live at Budokan, brilliant

  • Watched this on our last day together. That sux

  • if they did get a buncha Nipponese poon it was because f those white pants!

  • Sheer genius. Top drawer, hard rocking music. I feel alright!

  • Okay this is what music should sound like. Today's music is rap crap.

  • @MrJohndl this may sound elitist, but you need to dig in harder these days to find good music. You can't expect to just find good music on pop stations on the radio and i know that is sad but its a simple fact. There are handfuls of talented artists right now and they aren't all rap. Besides that, there are tons of non hip hop artists in mainstream right now. Sadly, their music isn't very good either. I'm refering to people like Michael Buble, Jason Mraz, and Jack Johnson. Just dull music.

  • @codebabe

Yep good comments - I just can't stand rap music.

  • @MrJohndl Rap = the only word in the English language with a silent "c".

  • @rawdog42 rawdog42 is the only name in it with a silent "faggot"

  • @colinhijacker My comment was funnier ! I win ! Now show us on the doll where Uncle touched you.

  • We're all all right!

  • Tommy's alright, Bun. E's alright, Robin's alright, Rick's alright, we're all alright, we're all alright, we're all alright!

  • check out less than jakes version of surrender its realy good

  • I always thought that Tom Peterson looked cool playing 12 string bass.

  • @MrTokken88 I play bass, and let me tell you that a 12 string is almost impossible. The fact that he does it is almost inhuman.

  • @montereypopfestiva67 It's pretty fucking impressive. I think Lead Belly's pretty much the only one I know of who mastered it.

  • Classic Trick!!

  • Rick at 0:45...classic '70s Nielsen...his photo on the rear cover of "At Budokan" should be available as a 40"x60" poster!!

  • is it me or all live album recorded in japan are better than regular live albums?

i mean, at budokan, judas priest's unleashed in east, rainbow On Stage

    these are awesome

  • @tiben36 Budokan had STATE of the ART recording gear installed in the amphitheater. Also, Japanese audiences are very polite and enthusiastic, screaming at the right times and staying quiet at the right times. Even Dylan has a "Live at Budokan" album.

  • Damn Great Band!!!!!

  • best song ever

  • one hell of a tour....i just retierd..from all this...god i had fun ..my legs are so bad..oh well..life catches up with us all....only one thing to say...get out there!!!!!i...get off your ass...trust ...it might seem hard ..but do not end up with regreats..its your life..what stories will u tell??..no extra ketchup that rainy day when 16 you where...go get it

  • rockband this tueday....and with dream police and i want you to want me....oh heck yeah!!!

  • Lol at 3:20

  • I love this song so much, its part of my childhood memories. Also, i love the ridiculous faces the guitarist (or bassist?) makes :P

  • @mrst3wy The guitarist. Rick Nielsen's a friggin' madman-- check out the Dream Police video if you want to see him really off the chain.

  • great performance by my favorite band (besides the beatles)

  • Japanese girls were encouraged to fall in love with American pop stars who they could never attain. They'd then fall in line with some arranged or otherwise mundane marriage.

  • 5 people are from the WACS

  • One of the greatest rock songs in history, And I been around a long time.....Peace

  • JSUSSSI...check out the lyrics...last line, last verse

  • キャー! ロビーン!

    Live at 武道館の映像ですね。

    Cheap Trick最高!

    あー、この頃に戻りたい・・・(涙)

  • @1960nyan Do you know why your comment internally combusted?

  • @1960nyan Do you know why your comment internally combusted?

  • WHAT DOES KISS HAVE TO DO WITH CHEAP TRICK? I LIKE KISS BUT WHERES THE CONNECTION?

  • @JSUSSSI lyrics of the song ^^

  • @JSUSSSI It's in the lyrics. "Rollin' numbers; rock and rollin'; got my 'Kiss' records out"

  • @Spentbrass oh ok didnt see the connection till now.

  • I photographed Cheap Trick in 77. To see the shots go to 70srockphotos (.com)

  • Oh yeah! A brother from Team Explorer!

  • rick nielsen is a weird character

  • 5 people surrendered and gave themselves away

  • There really terrible at lip sinking

  • Or your 8-tracks.

  • It's funny because the Japanese refused to surrender to the U.S.

  • One of the best rock bands, PERIOD! And they're still jammin' today! Cheap Trick ROCKS!

  • Zander said he was talking so slow when introducing songs cuz he thought that would make it easier for the Japanese audience to understand his English LMAO! He KNOWS how crazy that is...but we ALL do it!!

  • fantastici dax 65

  • If you remember getting your kiss records out... ROCK ON!!

  • @soulous1 I'm 18 and I pull out my Kiss records (I prefer to call them vinyls) all the time

  • NOW WHO THE FUCK DISLIKED THIS D:<

  • Great quality post! Thanks!

  • This isn't the original Budokan version. An original one used to be uploaded but was taken down for some reason. Probably that copyright infringement crap. I hope there's another one uploaded somewhere. And even if there is we need back ups for these songs because any video could be removed at any time.

  • @jityr2 You're 100% correct dude! I downloaded da original (which sounds heaps better) only 2 weeks b4 it was removed. This still sounds cool & funny from 4:07 - 4:12 but I'm still spewin' coz now I gotta use aTube dl and all my other 98 YT MV's are in my Clone2go folder where I cant save the aTube dl's. Ah well......

  • @Vanquish360Owns What's aTube dl ?

  • got my KISS records ouuuttt :D

  • some Indonesian junk that's going 'round....ha!

  • It ain't weezy but its aight

  • Rick Neilsen should be ranked within the Top 10 Guitarists in Rock & Roll of ALL TIME! He's just totally amazing!

  • @menchitty11 I could not agree any further! You are so right! He's REALLY a great guitarist. The short of this is that Rick's father owned a music store in Rockford, Illinois, called Rockford Music House during the sixties. He sold Jeff Beck his second Les Paul Standard guitar and they became friends ever since. He played at a club called El Dorado and backed musicians such as Del Shannon, Freddy Cannon, Chuck Berry and Bo Diddley, just to name a few.

  • back in 60s, 70s and 80s it was rockin with friends, nowadays its just for cash

  • CHEAP TRICK, PERFECT GROOVE...!! OH YEAH...!!

  • 5 people seem a little wierd :/

  • they played this song like rock stars

  • These guys probably got so much Japanese poon after this show.

  • @NamuNamu9 In the end, isn't that what being a rock star's all about?

  • @NamuNamu9 they allways do!

  • @NamuNamu9 Uh der ....like you think?

  • @NamuNamu9 lmfao bro you said it

  • @NamuNamu9 do you know how easy japanese "poon" is to get if you're american?!!?

  • @airframer1189 yeah, I heard they take pity on you

  • Some Indonesian junk is going around yeah classic line

  • Yup said good bye to the 70s listening to this tune in 79.

  • April 1st is Cheap Trick day in Illinois. Woo Hoo!!! Love you Robin!!!

  • We're all allright, we're all allright

  • rick's alright!

  • This song is the reason I chose to do a research paper on the WAC's for my American History class.

  • I can not imagine my youth without CHEAP TRICK!

  • good song!

  • When did the goodwill guy play with Cheap Trick??

  • why these songs are no longer made?

  • Ladies and Gents...introducing Mr. Pee Wee Herman on guitar.

  • @Lifer444 You, sir, are a fucking idiot.

  • @jaded9999 oh please, calm the fuck down

  • AMEN @Evanxz

  • This Classic Live Album Wuz Recorded ~ Apr.28th + 30th/78...

    Remembered When They Opened 4 ~ KISS In Halifax,N.S. - Jul.8th/77 ! c:

    Time Flies !

  • I live near Rockford, IL and Cheap Trick are our hometown boys.

  • This was the first album I ever owned. My older sister bought the cassette for me when I was nine or ten years old. That's where it all started..........................

  • Evanxz; yeah you're right; the sewage of today is just that: toxic waste, not music; it's not just a generational gap thing, like my dad liking Elvis & Johnny Cash (I also liked Elvis & Johnny Cash, just NFW I'd tell him!) while I liked Black Sabbath & Rrolling Stones & Who; the old stuff, even Motown, soul, country, R&B, was GREAT: this shit now is total garbage, bereft of any talent at all... Muse kinda breaks thru, and the Killers, when Brandon decides to work...

  • 5 people gave themselves away

  • How odd to see a lead singer who doesn't dance or do grand gestures. He just sings and lets the other guys carry the show. Cool.

  • @StarTrekker711

Yes. Also look at Jim Morrison & the Doors. Talent!

  • Always smile when he mentions The Philippines, after living there for a while years ago.

  • the uy with the gibson explorer natural finish looks like a creeper

  • @HarleyDavidson757 umm rick neilson isnt playing a gibson i think he is playing a hamer because thats what most of his other guitars are and i love his goofy looks lol

  • Even if it's not true that the line in the second verse was originally "Now, I had heard the WACs recruited old maids, dykes and whores," it *should* be true.

  • @jackal59 It is, in fact, true. I have the demo version with that line still in it.

  • oh they have remastered/edited the hell out of this. Sounds much better.

  • I love this song, but now it makes me think of Universal Studios every since that commercial came out.

  • Tom Petersson looks a lot like Dean Deleo

  • super rola! poka mother of Cheap Trick

  • You should hear Robin's daughter singing this... She is amazing!

  • @ArianaDancingWhale I'll have to go check her out! :)

  • I Rember this song from the movie Over The Edge. 70's movie with a young Matt Dillion. The kids of a suburban town thrash their school with their parents locked inside. But ..ha ha..it was ok because they all had each other.

  • yeah and no autune back then, Robin is spot on with his vocal performance

  • @vpmitchell As much as I agree about the auto-tune, this DVD has a lot of post-production overdubs.

  • @JRCrowley

yes it has! i have the original japanese tv broadcast and it,s quite different!

  • Es muy bueno, se lleva un 10 esa banda; aclaro, el 10 es el simbolo de virtuosidad en este caso, el nivel de excelencia.

  • How did Robin get so good?!

  • did robin sqeak at the begging

  • I'm not sure which live album I wore out faster... these guys at Budokan or Kiss Alive! I'm so glad I grew up in the musical era I did.

  • MrChattyO... I've been listening to punk for 30 years myself and I agree. I saw these guys live a couple of years after I first heard the pistols, the damned, buzzcocks etc and still enjoyed the concert. Mind you, I still love Slade too.

  • I've been listening to hardcore punk for 25 years and still regard this song as one of my faves of all time!!

  • Robin Zander seems like an uptight tool onstage?

  • I'm NOT all right!!!

  • One of the tightest bands ever.

    It all works!

  • What do you mean Was?

The band still plays you know.

  • Rick Nielsen was actually a kickass git player :)

  • Sorry, music today just flat ass sucks! I will take 60s, 70s and 80s first. ALL DAY LONG!

  • @Adrastos64 3W's(dot)southparkstudios(dot)com/full-episodes/s15e07-youre-getting-old

  • @Adrastos64 You're looking in all the wrong places. There's plenty of good music nowadays.

  • @Adrastos64 Great thing is, all the amazing bands we grew up with are hitting summer festivals and we are getting to see them again. Love it!

  • I am so glad I grew up in the 70s!

  • Quality on the vid awesome. Can't hear the keyboard tho!!

  • Well I do have to agree with @melliemae. They sure don't make music like the old days. I'm a 70's baby, grew up in the 80's and partied in the 90's. 80's & before were awesome decades for music though.

  • bwahahahaha lmfao at 3:07

  • GOTTA lOVE IT...♥

  • the 70s kicked ass...the 80s sucked

  • Listening to this makes me hate rap even more-if thats possible.

  • Ric Neilson rocks!

  • Note the Hamer 12-string bass Tom is playing...way before King's X and Pearl Jam caught on to that one.

  • "Before they married mommy served in the WACs in the Philippines" You don't get lyrics like that anymore.

  • I always pictured Robin playing guitar live on this in my head. :(

  • When did live show in Budokan?

  • its too bad that on the Budokan album they overlayed so much of the concert with studio mixes. the DVD is so much better because it captures the true rawness of a concert. the album is almost a fraud because they use the word "Live" very loosely.

  • Damn! These guys were as wasted onstage as I was in high school in the 70s! And this song still rocks!

  • Cheap Trick rocked like beasts

  • Live in Tokio. すげえなつかしい。

  • The third album I ever bought. OK headphones on? The intro: first 12 seconds remember this, it's for a future video to follow. After the intro you've got a little ultra cool drumming and then? Pay attention to the stadium rock style with a dash of late-70s irreverent PUNK attitude which is best found in the holy fuck what is this song actually about lyrics, &, did you notice the lyrics never even rhyme? Message? Don't give yourself away, & more importantly we're all all right.... surrender <3

  • perfect

  • Cheap Trick la banda que hizo del Budokan, un lugar legendario para tocar rock and roll

  • q canción tan epica! pasan las decadas y aun suena como si hubiera salido ayer al mercado

  • Timeless classic...

  • DAM IAM GETTING OLD, BUT I STILL LOVE THIS GROUP / SONG

  • Love this song! These guys were great got to meet them when I worked backstage when they did a USO tour in 84.

  • Live At The Budokan is one of the best rock albums ever released.

  • love cheap trick. I remember my friend had this album and we just played it over and over. trying to get my 11 and 13 year olds to listen to more 70's music. awesome song!

  • @mallox77 stay on them to listen to good music so they dont end up like their friends

  • Hell, I had this one on 8-track.......

  • You can tell Billy Corgan from the Pumpkins was influenced by Cheap Trick

  • @theRealbrando2393 billy corgan made good songs in the 90s but now he sucks no offense

  • i drove robin zander from wisconsin dells, WI to Rockford, IL............one night..he had taken some acid & couldnt drive, so me & my friend drove him there. *true story*..it WAS before they were famous though..they played in a bar in Wisconsin Dells then. *the Ace of Clubs* :) it was in 1975 or 1976.

  • the 70's were awesome

  • @69superlead yes they were i know first hand
