  • stop whining about those worker termites. you never complained when you called the exterminator

  • Thats not very fair, those are just worker termites...

  • the termites are barely moving while the ants are everwhere!

  • great video!

  • I can get all the asian needle ants you want.. They are the hardest thing our exterminator has ever tried to kill. THey are resistant to almost every know pesticide out there. and their sting feels like a wasp sting. These things are mean and nasty.

  • @PaganEgyptian I have not been stung by one, but I heard that the sting was painful. What state are you located in?

  • @PaganEgyptian Have you tried fire? Im only half joking, here.

  • @PaganEgyptian

Did you ever try a flamethower? im pretty sure that would work

  • @PaganEgyptian carb cleaner kills anything

  • omg those are worker termites there not built for battle! unfair dude

  • hey how long does 1 termite live? and can you keep them in captivity?

  • @TheDsAo I don't know for sure how long one termite would live. To keep an active colony, you would need some queens and males. I don't see why you couldn't keep them in captivity.

  • fail, only soldier termites are worthy fighters for the ants

  • @alfok True enough, I was not looking to see which species would win in a fight. Maybe I should rename the video. I was just looking at different arthropods to see which ones the ants might prey on.

  • WOW this is dumb lol no soldier termites at all

  • @C2MeLee Yeah, I could not find any soldiers at the time I had the live ants. But, I was not trying to see which species would win in a fight, I was just looking at different different potential prey for the ants, and the termites were the preferred ones (of the species I had available).

  • the ants are the warlords of all bugs

  • Those aren't even soldier termites...how do you expect them to even stand a chance against the ant....

  • @OrcanLord I did not expect them to have a chance, I was just looking a prey preference really. I tried putting in a variety of different adult and immature arthropods, and the termites were the only species (that I had available at the time), that were attacked. Not surprising, since in their native range in Asia, the ants prefer a termite species there as well.

  • Huh, I'm glad people like you put these experiments up so I can watch them. All I have around my house are regular black and brown ants, but I can still get them to fight. Either way, seeing insects fighting eachother is one of my favorite passtimes. Not to be cruel or anything, I just like to study nature and the things that are in it as well.

  • termites were dead already =( looks like u killed em by yourself, lol

  • @UndeadRussianLord read description

  • @UndeadRussianLord Ha, no, they were attacked immediately after being put in the dish. I could not get good video of it, because my forceps were in the way. But, they were definitely alive when place in the dish.

  • termite lava vs full grown ants fairly stupid video and cruel in a way.

  • @skullkiller123

The termites are adults. In their native region, this ant is predacious on some termites. I was curious if they would attack our native species. You are right for sure, it was not a fair fight. I thought it was interesting to see how fast these ants grabbed and incapacitated the termites and also how they tended to stack the paralyzed termites in piles. Thanks for your comments though.

  • @skullkiller123 The termites are full grown. I was just looking at prey preference, not which species would win in a battle. Of course, nature is cruel and bugs eat each other all the time.

  • Termites only hope of survival is usually based on two things. First off the soliders will fight in tunnels that are very narrow forcing most ants to go one on one...secondly the workers will seldom wall holes off forcing ants away. By throwing them in the dish with the ants, ants went to hostile forage instincts and the termites just accepted their fate.

Funny how they never bothered with the larva..maybe it secrets a funny chemical or some other biological defense.

  • It looks like a large grub or something over there on the left...what's that? It's mostly off camera.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Yeah, it was a scarab beetle larva. I was curious if the ants would bother it, but they never did.

  • Havent you seen the movies Antz!?!?! its beast they woop some termite butt!

  • looks like the termites are already dead

  • I should have started the video 30 seconds earlier, the instant the termites were placed in the dish with the ants, they were attacked by the ants. The battle was over instantly. However, the termites were still alive for most of this video, but incapacitated by the stings of the ants. If you look close, you can still see the termites twitching and moving their limbs. It was also weird how the ants took the immobilized termites and placed them in piles.

  • LMFAO you had them fighting on your dish?

  • yes, but it was not much of a fight really. The termites did not have a chance.

  • I would assume the ants placed them in piles keeping the termites together while they tried to find a chemical trail back to the nest.

  • cool
