Yeah thats similar. I also have a 0 to100 video of the saturn on here. Not to mention I got my Camaro 55-162 mph video also and a bunch of other videos that you might enjoy if you check out.
@projectexpedite yeah i was checking them out love ur camaro lol :D i'm new to modding cars and such...are there any simple mods i could do to gain acceleration?
Never underestimate a saturn. I have a 2000 SL1, and it's a pretty nippy car. not fast, but it can move for the engine it has. only 45,000k on mine :P
@projectexpedite how bout super nice camaro? ive been looking for 1 but idk what to go for and im still wondering about insurance, wont be cheap for me...
@projectexpedite mmk, i live just outside of philly in the suburbs, Pennsylvania
Well, im only 17, i can drive stick, my current car is manual
I do not have a job or money saved up, if possible i was going to have my dad buy the car then id make the payments, however, id have to get another job
I know someone with a 97 camaro z28, hes 17 but his dad is paying for his car
id have to get another job bc my dad isnt gonna pay my insurance which would prolly b like 4grand roughly maybe less a year.
Your going to need a job not only to buy and insure another car but to fix it to because used cars you can never be too sure about.
If you want power, I would look for a 98-02 LS1 V8 engine Camaro or Firebird. That's the Firebird Formula, Firebird Trans Am, Camaro Z28, and Camaro SS.
You can insure it for like $1300 a year for liability like $100-110 a month or full insurnace which is going to cost you double that.
@projectexpedite my current car is a 99 saturn sl1, which is amazing on gas, about $20 a week, nd i have a full tank. and the reason i watched this vid is bc i have a saturn.
Oh, how old r u because im pretty sure that it will cost more than 1300$ a year even just liability because of my age but then again that seems right beause its just liability, idk u think that would be right even though im 17...?
I was paying $190 a month for full with allstate when i was 20 and i had a ticket on my record for speeding and improper lane usage and that wasnt too bad.
Then I went to paying $92 for libility, and then I didnt get a ticket on my record for a while and its now $55 a month for liability and im 21 years old now.
@projectexpedite I'm 18 and I'm paying $192/month for this exact car, and I have a clean driving record. I'm with the cheapest company both me and my insurance broker can find!
I had two other cars I would rather drive, my Chevy Camaro and my Ford Ranger. And right now the Camaro is getting a new tranny by July 1st-3rd. Can't wait to drive it again. I got that one up to 162mph, put 4000 miles in 3 months and now has 102,500 miles on the meter.
even with a stock sl1 he should be running under 11 0-60. Perhaps its old maybe its new maybe its loaded down with ppl. If yr not trying to hard thats a fair time.
see, thats why i got the sl2. 24 horsepower and a for more ft. lb. of torque make a big difference only now its starting to spudder when i gas it. middle of winter though and i forgot the heat or whatever.
i have a 98 sl1, previously owned by my aunt who cant take care of anything, so it was in pretty bad shape. id be impressed if i could make it in 15 seconds...haha, i still have some work to do on it, new oil, air intake and some new filters
I have a 98 Saturn and I was wondering the same thing about the transmission doing that but if you read in the manual that comes with the car, it says that all Saturns have a "transmission feature" where during high acceleration or whatever, the RPMs will drop a little and then go back up to add more power. Or something like that. It'd definitely not something bad happening to your car. It's supposed to do that.
Or maybe he has 1,024,926 miles haha you should put an intake on it if you haven't already. I've put an intake and a glasspack muffler on my SOHC and it feels pretty zippy, I have yet to time it tho.
I have 137k on my 98 Saturn and it's all stock. Only thing done to it were new tires and oil changes. I can tell the tranny is going bad though. On hot days, when I put it in reverse, nothing will happen for at least 5 seconds then it'll go BANG and SLAM into reverse. :( :(
I call bs, ur sl2 and sc are still s series. The engines are exactly the same, same with trans besides the stick/auto

@5StarDirector
You counted incorrectly.
The 0-60 run is from the very beginning of 0:03 to the very beginning of 15.
I know people make mistakes but.... how did you count 14?

i went 80 down a residential street in my ls1, but it was 2:30 am so there was no people. for a slow and weak car it will bring the adrenaline.
DRcaprice 2 years ago
I went 145mph in a 30 zone 2 blocks from my house at like 2 or 3 am. That's like 115mph over the limit or almost 5X the limit. That was nuts.

I can see why then. I'm a fan of Saturn, but not as much of one as I am Camaros, and I wouldn't be stupid to choose the Saturn over the Camaro.
