  • My dad played this on guitar late at night when i was a kid and It scared me SO much I didnt sleep that night.

  • I remember hearing this song in a Robert Crumb documentary and loving it. That version was slower -which gave it a less of a "typical rag" regarding tempo- but it sounded great.

  • @djerwulfe . No, the very name is "A real slow drag", and is the last song of his opera"Treemonisha"

  • @djerwulfe No, Slow Drag. Like the dance, do the slow drag. not dance the slowed rag.

  • Really nice, thanks

  • Too fast...

  • @BoidsiesRoblox I think this is Joplins chosen speed from the rolls, or they played the rolls too fast but I don't think so

  • @zeusjeke I agree with you. Many people take too "seriously" Joplin advice "Ragtime needs to be played not too fast". I think this is the very speed chosen by Joplin. Not too fast , but nor too slow!!!

  • Yes, it is the finale of Scott Joplin's opera "Treemonisha".The lyrics are as follows: Treemonisha: Salute your partner. Do the drag, drag, drag. Stop and move backward. Do the drag. All of you stop. Look to your right and do the drag, drag, drag. To your left, to your left, that's the way. (Chorus) Marching onward, marching onward Marching to that lovely tune. Marching onward, marching onward, Happy as a bird in June. Sliding onward, sliding onward, Listen to that rag (etc)
  • This is a spetacular rag.

  • is that the actual name of the song?

  • I think so, why ?

  • because this is really not so slow.
