I think from what I've read, what little I could find, they are getting along better and better the older III gets. He doesn't seem to carry that huge chip on his shoulder nearly as much anymore. Last time I saw him in concert, he didn't seem as pissed off about everything as he once did.

Outlaw Country began with Hank I, and he loved drugs and drinking and carrying on the same way II did, except he gave it up, as he says, "back in 1973", whereas Hank 3 is still in that young stage where he's full of piss and vinegar.

I know had 1 been alive to see II, he would have probably felt the same way II does about III: a little embarrassed and a little proud.
