ive always thought borsendorfer and steinway have been matched in quality and sound. Yamaha piano's (in my opinion) tend to be 'brighter' in tone which i find undesirable. many other japanese made piano's tend to be brighter as well. just a thought.

I play on a 30 year old Baldwin upright that I personally believe has the best tone of any piano I've played except a Steinway concert grand. Granted, I haven't played everything. Now if only the action weren't so sticky...
Baldwin are British made arent they? I have never played one but i have heard them and i do love the tone. There are specialists that can fix that for you and it will feel brand new!! :D

Actually Bosendorfer is much better than both Steinway and Yamaha but it's just unaffordable for a lot of people.
